RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee all day-to-day construction activities on your job site, under the supervision of the Project Management Team. • Beginning to end residential construction, including demolition, framing, remodeling existing construction, siding, door and window installation, and precision trim installation. • Manages a crew of up to 1-3 carpenters or carpenter’s assistants. • Build additions/remodeling directly from blue-print designs and scope of work documents with all hand, power or air tools necessary for the job. • General knowledge of masonry, plumbing, heating, and electrical systems. • Work with the job schedule and budget to finish your job on time and on budget. • Maintain a clean and safe job site or work space at all times. QUALIFICATIONS • 5 YEARS Experience managing a team of carpenters or carpenter’s assistants • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, especially in framing and trim carpentry. • Exceptional carpentry skills. • Possess an enthusiastic, supportive and team-oriented work ethic. • Able to read and work from blueprints and scope of work documents. High level of accuracy in measuring and cutting. • Strong knowledge of construction materials and terminology. • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members and subcontractors. • Effective time and task management for job sites. • Professional appearance and behavior. • Ability to establish good working relationships with clients, team members, subcontractors and vendors. • Well stocked arsenal of tools. • Pick-up truck, van or SUV. • Able to lead, train and develop the carpenters and assistants who will be on your team. • First Aid + CPR/Safety Training. (Not required but would be great!) • Ability to reliably commute to Green Hills, Forest Hills, Belle Meade Monday – Friday and be on time each day. Our work hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. • Valid Driver’s License. • Qualified to work in the United States. WORK CONDITIONS Lead Carpenters can expect to be able to perform physical exertion typically found on construction sites including, but not limited to, carrying, lifting, climbing, crawling, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling and hauling. able to lift 75 -125 pounds on a regular basis; regular lifting of 30-50 pounds over your head; occasionally lifting to 125 pounds over your head. You will be expected to work inside and outside, on even and uneven surfaces, on roofs and ladders, under structures, and in other physical situations. No mandatory overtime or weekends. See More Details >>JOB DESCRIPTION FOR SEASONAL MASTER CARPENTER Reports To: Director of Production Area of Responsibility: Production Wage Classification: Seasonal Part-Time Compensation: $26.00/hour Position Summary: The Master Carpenter is a seasonal hourly position that oversees the prep and execution of the technical and scenic aspects of Nashville Ballet Company, NB2 and School productions including rigging, carpentry, and props in conjunction with the Director of Production, Production Stage Manager, Master Electrician, Properties Master, and Wardrobe Supervisor. This person will be present for all prep weeks, show weeks and return weeks for all NB productions throughout the fiscal year of June 1-May 31. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • In conjunction with the production team, schedule and manage crews for load-ins, load-outs, and performances; coordinate with venues. • In conjunction with the Assistant Technical Director and Master Electrician, supervise IATSE crew while in the performance venue and over hire crew in the warehouse and studios. • In conjunction with the Assistant Technical Director and Master Electrician, lead all backstage operations, including trucking, drayage, and technical support, maintaining artistic vision and safety. • Maintain and safeguard sets, props, lighting, sound, and AV equipment owned by Nashville Ballet. • Responsible for running a deck track during all performances. • Collaborate with production staff on all technical needs throughout rehearsals and performances. • In conjunction with the Assistant Technical Director draft, construct, and oversee set and prop builds; purchase materials and assign labor. • Provide technical support across all NB performances and special events. • Prepare production paperwork alongside the production team; including but not limited to schedules, rigging plots, draftings and venue requirements. • Attend production meetings, studio rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances as needed.
