Skilled Building Carpenter

Job Title: Skilled Building Carpenter! Job Description We are seeking a skilled building carpenter with over two years of experience. Responsibilities • Construct, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures. • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials. • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures/fixtures. • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment. • Perform framing and rough carpentry, as well as trim and finish carpentry tasks. Essential Skills • Proficiency in rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and construction. • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively. • Blueprint reading and general construction labor experience. • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation. Work Environment Work in a dynamic commercial construction environment where you will operate in teams of 3-10 people on the job site. Normal working hours are from 7 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, although these may vary throughout the season and day. The dress code requires boots, jeans, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. For certain projects, travel may be required to locations such as Ames, Des Moines, or Huxley, IA. If you reside close to the Ames shop, you may have the option to ride in a company van with other team members. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, Iowa. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Performance Builders Lead Carpenter A Lead Carpenter at Performance Builders is a critical role for our company. A Lead Carpenter is familiar with building processes and practices and has a keen eye for detail and style within carpentry. This role is responsible for the execution of our building projects. We build high end, custom decks and additions during the warm season and transition to basement finishing in the winter months. A Lead Carpenter needs to be able to perform frame to finish carpentry tasks. The skills needed daily vary, and must be able to adapt easily. A lead carpenter must be able to execute projects independently and while leading 1-2 other carpenters. A minimum of 5 years construction experience is required.
