Position Summary Layout, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble sheet metal fittings, transitions and duct work in a timely manner. Essential Functions And Responsibilities • Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences and required methods and materials according to blueprints, drawings and verbal instruction • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes • Manually guide gun along weld line maintaining length of arc and speed of movement • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions • Change hoses, fittings, air valves and other parts • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications • Inspect assemblies for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments required • Perform all necessary maintenance and repairs on all equipment used for welding • Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications • Capable of performing a wide variety of welding functions • Ability to operate various types of welding equipment • Ability to work well independently or as a team • Ability to identify and measure material • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen Education And Experience • High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred • 1+ years previous welding experience • Previous experience in a fabrication or construction environment is preferred • Degree or certification from relevant trade school or apprenticeship preferred • Ability to interpret drawings and blue prints Success Factors/job Competencies • Maintain regularly punctual attendance record, fill out daily timecard accurately • Regular use of personal protective equipment • Efficiency of production/work finished on schedule • Accuracy of work/quality of finished product • Cleanliness and organization of work area • Minimize re-work and fixes as much as possible • Adhere to company safety rules and regulations Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
