Fitter/Welder (Steel Fitter/Fabrication Fitter)

We are currently looking for a Fitter who is also skilled as a Certified Welder and has a strong knowledge of quality control processes to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring a wide range of skills, including blueprint reading and experience with fabrication tools Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Fitter to assist in the assembly and fitting of steel components for various fabrication projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, assembling metal parts, and ensuring that all pieces are properly aligned and fitted for welding or further processing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fitting steel components and a strong understanding of fabrication methods, safety standards, and quality control. While the position does not include a heavy installation role, the ability to step into an install when necessary is beneficial. As a Certified Welder and Fitter, you will be expected to utilize your expertise in welding and fitting, while also having the flexibility to perform additional tasks such as quality control and operating equipment. Responsibilities: • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine specifications and assembly requirements. • Assembly & Fitting: Fit and assemble steel components, ensuring proper alignment, measurement, and fit-up for welding or other processing. • Fabrication: Use tools and equipment such as grinders, torches, and welders to adjust and assemble components as needed. • Collaboration: Work closely with welders, fabricators, and project managers to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks. • Equipment Operation: Operate fabrication equipment including plasma tables, shears, press brakes, and other machinery. Some familiarity with Dragon equipment is a plus. • Installation: Ability to perform installations on-site when necessary, although preference is for the role to focus on fabrication tasks (installation not required but a benefit to OSF.) • Material Handling & Delivery: Ability to load, transport, and deliver fabricated components to job sites as needed. • Other Skills: Knowledge of carpentry is a plus, as is familiarity with AISC standards. Qualifications (Required): • Experience: 3+ years of experience in fitting, welding, and fabrication, with solid knowledge of blueprint reading. Preferred (But Not Required): • AISC Knowledge: Familiarity with AISC standards is a plus. Understanding of structural steel requirements and codes is advantageous. • Carpentry: Carpentry experience is a plus. • Certification: Certified Welder with welding certifications such as AWS or equivalent. • Delivery Experience: Ability to safely load, transport, and deliver components to job sites is a plus. • Equipment Knowledge: Proficiency with fabrication equipment such as plasma tables, shear, press brake, and other tools. • Install Experience: Ability to perform installations on job sites as needed, though the primary focus of the role will be on fabrication and fitting. Welder/Fabricator - Swing Shift (1904)

What we are looking for: • 2+ years of fabrication experience. • Must be able to weld both MiG and flux using .052. • Ability to read blueprints and schematics with proficiency. • Good shop math, including reading tape measure, calipers and other precision measuring instruments. • Previous experience using cutting torches, drill press, punch press and hand-held grinders. • The ability to stand for a 10-hour shift and lift 70 lbs. at times. • Proficient in 4G welding with good uphill and overhead welding. • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors both written and verbally. • Keep the work area clean and safe. • Previous experience of forklifts and using overhead or jib cranes is preferred.
