ASME Welder (3rd Shift)

A Snapshot of Your Day The ASME Welder (3rd shift) is responsible for the welding, grinding, assembly, quality and inspection of a wide variety of parts for compressors and associated components. This position requires sound judgment in the selection of proper tips for welding or cutting, and in the selection of welding rods. The successful candidate will maintain ASME Code quality and produce x-ray quality welds. As a welder with Siemens-Energy you will be responsible for completing multiple part setups, welding and grinding the parts to completion for one of our critical part families! How You'll Make an Impact • Weld and braze a variety of parts per ASME BPVC Division 1 Sections VIII and IX. Code stamp not required. • Perform welding of steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel in positions 1G, 2G, and 3G; Follow established weld procedure specification (WPS) documents, including preheat, amps, volts, and gas coverage. • Maintain operating condition of wire feeder, gas mixture and welding gun and/or torches • Contour completed welds using a die grinder. • Working from shop prints without instructions properly layout, mark, hand torch cut, prepare joints, fixture, and tack weld in place a variety of code and non-code work of the highest complexity • Keep work area clean, orderly, and safe. What You Bring • Must have a High School Diploma or GED that can be verified. • 1 -3 years welding experience using a variety of metals (ie. Aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel etc..) in a manufacturing environment is required; Must be willing to work 3rd shift and be flexible enough to work 1st or 2nd shift on occasion as business requires. • Experience using burning and air arc equipment to repair defective part areas (such as blow and sand holes in cast steel.) • Ability to SMAW or GTAW pipe in 6G position, and weld in flow channels using a mirror is strongly preferred; proficiency in oxyacetylene, electric welding, tungsten inert gas, mig welding, brazing, silver soldering, shrinking, or sweating is also preferred. • Must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints and have math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations. • Be at a computer level of proficient to intermediate using Microsoft Office Suite is preferrable. Position Summary: To plan, supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of all employees assigned to the Mold and Weld Shops pertaining to the maintenance and repair of the molds and type equipment. This includes, not limited to the production of machine parts in support of the Plant manufacturing process. It is the objective of this effort to provide molds and type equipment and machine parts to required quality levels, to required schedules and at minimum cost in support of the manufacturing process. Primary Responsibilities: • Supervises directly, or indirectly, the activities of all employees assigned to the Mold and Weld Shops • Develops and implements Mold and Weld Shops production schedules in coordination with production, engineering, and other Plant Department requests • Assigns activities to appropriate personnel to meet required quality levels, to meet completion schedules and to maintain shop productivity standards • Directs the maintenance, safety and housekeeping standards in areas of responsibility • Insures the maintenance of accurate mold and type equipment inventory and historical records to aid in the planning of all mold and type equipment repairs and/or replacements required to maintain production capability • Directs efforts required to keep Mold and Weld Shops equipment (machine tools, fixtures, measuring devices, etc.) in a state of repair needed to provide required quality and productivity levels. Recommends repairs and/or replacements as required maintaining that state of repair. • Plans for and assists in the training of all Department personnel to insure that adequate and up-to-date skills knowledge is maintained throughout the Department. Job Title: Welder Fabricator Location: Watkins Glen, NY Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Welder Fabricator to join our team. This hands-on role involves cutting, joining, and shaping metal parts using a variety of welding techniques and fabrication tools. The ideal candidate will be proficient in blueprint reading, welding, and assembly of metal components to create high-quality products and structures that meet tight tolerances and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Reading & Interpreting Drawings • Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings • Identify materials, welding processes, and fabrication steps required for each job 2. Material Preparation • Measure, mark, cut, and lay out raw materials accurately • Operate shears, saws, torches, and other cutting tools 3. Welding • Perform MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding • Weld various metals including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum • Produce clean, structurally sound welds that meet required specifications 4.
