Essential Duties Proficient in assigned welding techniques Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbology Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.) Conventional and precision measuring instruments Process inspection, certification, and documentation Welding equipment maintenance Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools Safety and Housekeeping Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor Minimum Education/Experience High School diploma, or equivalent, and: Successful completion of an internal welding test. One-year experience in various forms of welding. Additional Responsibilities and Work Environment This position is required to work in manufacturing environment facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is may exposed to work near loud and moving mechanical parts. For this reason, hearing and eye protection are requited. Structural Welder Job Highlights Title Structural Welder Type Full Time Experience Not Indicated Function Management/Manufacturing Location Cambridge, OH, United States Company Bi-Con Services Company Profile Bi-Con Services provides planning, scheduling, design, fabrication, construction, and safety services. Job Profile The company is looking for a Structural Welder who will perform general structural welding and laborer duties as assigned. Educational Qualification • The applicants may be required to have a High School Diploma • They should pass ASME structural welding test. (MIG, short circuit process) Work Experience • No work experience is mentioned, yet having will be a plus. Duties/Responsibilities • Assist after hydro testing with de-watering and general clean-up. • Assist handling crew with removing completed pipe/structural assemblies from the building; clean up stands and cribbing from removed spools. • Assist in daily clean-up of the work area. • Assist in the assembly of piping onto skids. • Assist with flange makeups including material retrieval, flange face preparation, and torqueing. Break down flanges and temporarily screwed pipe assemblies after hydro testing is completed. • Assist with hydro testing set up to include: filling with water, bleeding air from the test system, installing various screwed assemblies to assist in testing, installing extra cribbing as needed, etc. • Assist with screw pipe installation including retrieving material, installing supports, measuring, cutting, threading, and installing pipe. • Cut, fit and weld structural steel as specified. • Fire watch as directed. • Laborer duties as needed. • Layout and drill holes are required per assembly. • Operate band saw to cut pipe and structural material to correct lengths. • Operate overhead crane as needed to perform various tasks. • Participate in daily huddles and safety meetings. • Properly use, maintain and store all tools and materials used in the course of work. • Other duties as assigned. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities • Ability to lift 50 lbs. • Ability to read/comprehend basic structural steel drawings. • Ability to work any schedule assigned, including weekends and overtime when necessary. • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve common goals. • Basic understanding of rigging. • Follow all safety rules and wear the required PPE. • Possess a basic understanding of common structural steel components. • Read a tape measure. • Use oxy/acetylene hand torch. • Use small hand tools, i.e. drills, saws, wrenches, levels, plumb bob, etc. • Work will involve fabricating various structural assemblies.
