Job Title: Solar Electrician Location: Sterling, IL Employment Type: Full-Time Experience Level: 5+ Years Reports To: Electrical Superintendent / Project Manager Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Solar Electrician with 5+ years of hands-on experience working on utility-scale solar installations and EV charging station projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in electrical systems, a solid understanding of NEC codes, and the ability to lead or work independently in high-paced construction environments. Key Responsibilities • Install, assemble, and maintain utility-scale solar electrical systems, including PV modules, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, and switchgear. • Perform electrical terminations of conductors in panels, junction boxes, inverters, and transformers with precision and adherence to safety standards. • Run and bend conduit (EMT, PVC, Rigid, IMC) and perform layout for underground and above-ground raceways. • Pull and route wire per project specifications and electrical drawings. • Execute trenching, backfilling, and pad construction for solar and EV charging systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements. • Install and commission EV charging stations and associated infrastructure. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical single-line diagrams. • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical circuits and systems. • Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and company safety procedures at all times. • Collaborate with project management, foremen, and other trades to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects. • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used. Required Qualifications • Minimum 5 years of electrical experience, including work on utility-scale solar projects and/or EV charging systems. • Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, grounding, and PV system components. • Experience in conduit bending, wire pulling, terminations, trenching, and pad construction. • Proficient with hand and power tools, conduit benders, multimeters, and testing equipment. • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and industry best practices. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics. • Valid state electrical license or journeyman certification preferred. • Must have valid driver s license and reliable transportation. • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred Qualifications • Experience leading small crews or mentoring apprentices. • Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure design and installation standards. • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. • NCCER or equivalent electrical certification. • Previous experience working with medium voltage systems (up to 35kV) a plus.
