Job description – Utility Solar Area Manager The role is responsible for overseeing both the day-to-day and long-term maintenance activities of a diverse portfolio of solar power plants, ensuring alignment with Miller Bros Solar’s O&M programs and client-specific agreements. This portfolio includes five PV solar plants in Pennsylvania (average size of 25MW), a 27MWdc site in Kansas, a 17MWdc site in California, and two smaller sites (under 5MWdc) in New Mexico. The position will directly manage a team of four technicians and will focus on delivering high standards in the following key areas: • Technician and contractor health and safety performance • Direct supervision and development of assigned technicians • Environmental compliance and stewardship • Employee training and continuous development • Quality assurance and control across all maintenance activities • Work management system implementation and integration • Asset performance monitoring and optimization • Preventative and corrective maintenance execution • Identification and evaluation of reliability improvements and new technologies • Process development and oversight to ensure consistent execution and continuous improvement This role is critical to maintaining asset reliability, maximizing energy production, and supporting long-term client satisfaction across the assigned solar portfolio. Supervisory Responsibility: Provides leadership and direction to all personnel providing maintenance support at the site, including contractors. May be required to take on the role of the Plant Manager when deemed necessary. Supervision of remote site personnel and maintenance activities as required by management. Experience: A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in maintenance management within the utility energy industry, encompassing power plant maintenance and outage management. Demonstrated understanding of power plant maintenance processes, use and intimate understanding of CMMS software, EH&S compliance, and personnel, contractor, and vendor management. Education: • Technical School Diploma • College degree preferred Required Skills: • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written. • Ability to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the customer’s success. • Ability to share technical expertise with team members and the customer. • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and direct the safe operation and maintenance activities of multiple complex projects. Essential Functions & Responsibilities General: • Manages all maintenance and technical requirements for the site, maintenance budget development, oversight, and adherence. • Manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the PV industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance. • Manages the use of the enterprise asset management system (Salesforce, Maximo...) and assures the complete and accurate integration of the system, at the site. • Monitors and manages the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, equipment, tools, and reordering as necessary. • · Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems continuously, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement. • Ensures completion of Technicians documents; outages, onsite equipment problems, log entries, site visitation; safety and environmental inspections. • Communicates regularly with Management and all site personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure excellent two-way communication concerning operational and maintenance issues. • Produce and speak to site reports and presentations of plant maintenance status, schedules, and goals. • Assists in the hiring of maintenance personnel and conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the site maintenance personnel. Behavioral: • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence. • Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others • Ability to work in difficult customer situations • Available for 24-hour on-call duty to meet customer requirements Technical: • Proficient computer skills using MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and Outlook • Experience working with plant systems and computerized maintenance management systems. (Salesforce, Maximo...) • Development and validation of Procedures and Processes. Physical Requirements: • Will sit and stand periodically during the day. • Required to lift up to 25 lbs. • Will walk and climb stairs. • Will reach over shoulder heights and below waist. • Required to use hands to lift, handle, carry or feel. • May be required to kneel, bend, talk and hear. • Specific vision abilities are required.
