Metal Fabricator

To help us continue to grow our business, we’re searching for a Metal Fabricator II. The Metal Fabricator position is responsible for safely and accurately setting up the equipment and performing the operations needed to operate handle, drill, notch, saw, weather-strip, package metal components and subassemblies. Fabricators work from design specifications, patterns and drawings, using a variety of tools and machines to make metal parts and/or perform some assembly within the company quality manual standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Safely and securely move required materials through the various stages of the product life cycle as outlined in the process workflow. This is completed under direction of the department supervisor. • Properly setup the equipment/machinery and verify that: • All safety devices and measures are active and in place. • The equipment/machine is operating properly. • All gages, stops, etc. are working properly to ensure that the parts will be processed in accordance with the QC and design requirements. • Position metal components against dimensional stops, secure with clamping systems, and perform the operation designated by the work center. • Perform the required QC check on each component to ensure that it complies with the design and drawing specifications by conducting visual and dimensional examinations. • Ensure that all counts of finished products are correct and marked or tagged with the proper identifying marks, as required. • Report any defective parts to the area Supervisor. • Properly stack and secure all fabricated metal parts with the and deliver to the next workstation, as defined by the process work flow. • Maintain and clean and safe work area at all times. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • 1-2 years of related work experience in fabrication or a production setting. • Ability to safely operate punching, notching, drilling and other forming machines. • Can use and understand basic measuring instruments. • Can read blueprint and specification documents. • Ability to count accurately and record production data.
