Job description A Santa Clara based sheet metal shop that is looking for a Self-Starting Quality Inspector for sheet metal. This position will require 5-year minimum inspection experience using various hand tools and instruments, knowledge of welding and sheet metal bending techniques. Machine shop experience a bonus but not necessary. Main Responsibilities Include: 1. Inspection of components and assemblies, welded, non-welded, surface finishes, plating, coatings, welding, heat treat, e.g., anodize, alodine, nickel, gold, and painting for both in-process and final inspection. 2. Generate First Article Inspection Reports and First Piece Article using appropriate inspection tools/equipment to verify critical dimensions and features per customer requirements. 3. Maintain company quality records and inspection reports, examples: NC, DMR, FAIR, etc. 4. Audit the shop floor for in-process inspections and provide guidance as needed. 5. Document findings and report any non-conformance noted. 6. Remove and segregate non-conforming parts and materials. Requirements: 1. 5 Years’ minimum experience as a full-time inspector of sheet metal components, and sub-assemblies. 2. Experience in use of hand tools: height gage, micrometer, caliper, etc. 3. GD&T / ASME Y14.5M / ANSI standards essential.: Ability to read & interpret dimensions and tolerances on drawings and blueprints. 4. Ability to analyze CMM data. 5. Carl Zeiss and Mitutoyo CMM operating experience is preferred but not necessary. 6. Demonstrate strong mathematical skills. 7. Strong team player and clear communicator. Self-starter that can multitask, can work quickly/efficiently in a fast-paced environment and able to work to challenging deadlines. 8. Be familiar with AS9100 and ISO 13485 standards. Knowledge/experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems required. 9. Computer skills are a must. Operator-Level proficiency using computer software programs.
