Overview: Allbritten The Barefoot Plumber is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our HVAC fabrication team. This position is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and modifying sheet metal components for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metalworking, blueprint reading, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Key Responsibilities: Fabrication & Assembly: • Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to specifications using hand and power tools. • Fabricate ducts, fittings, and other HVAC-related components from galvanized sheet metal. • Assemble and install sheet metal products according to shop drawings and field measurements. • Perform TIG/MIG or spot welding when needed. Blueprint Reading & Layout: • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and field sketches to determine material requirements and fabrication processes. • Lay out patterns for ductwork using mathematical calculations and hand tools. Shop & Material Management: • Maintain an organized and clean fabrication shop. • Track inventory of sheet metal and hardware; report shortages to the shop manager. • Safely operate tools and machinery such as shears, brakes, roll formers, and plasma cutters. Quality Control & Safety: • Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and compliance with company and industry standards. • Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use, equipment operation procedures, and OSHA standards. Qualifications: • Experience: 2+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication (HVAC experience preferred). • Skills: • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools and equipment. • Strong math and measuring skills. • Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks in a shop environment. • Manual dexterity and attention to detail. • Certifications (Preferred): Sheet metal certification or related technical training.
