CORE HOURS M- F 3:00 pm - 11:30pm JOB SUMMARY The Fabricator creates the components that go into small- and large-scale HVAC products. Fabricators are similar to assemblers and might work on putting together one set of components or work on the finished product. This is done by hand with parts fabricated from machines in the production area. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Operate all fabrication equipment: Press Brakes, Turrets, Shear and Notcher & ACIES Laser/Material Load/Unloader. • Provide quality fabricated metal products. • Maintain all safety devices and personal protective equipment for set up/fabrication area. • Maintain records as outlined by policies and procedures. • Utilization of inspection gages. • Ability to read Blueprints and Utilization of inspection gages. • Assist in maintaining and organizing tooling and help keep it in good condition. • Understand requirements and follow set ups instructions of specific jobs. • Organize the work area such that there is a place for everything, and everything is in its place. REQUIRED: • Knowledge of safety/quality practices and expectations. • Knowledge of basic computer skills to operate testing equipment. • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions to assemble HVAC units. • Ability to effectively communicate. • Ability to visually inspect parts prior to assembly and units at workstations. • Ability to successfully pass classroom and production line training and certification testing. • Actively participating in Bergstrom’s continuous improvement environment. The budgeted range for this role is $18 USD - $18.21 per hour. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the desired level of experience for the position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Assembles machines, equipment and subassemblies such as punch presses, bending brakes, shears, notchers, kick presses, and roll formers, following specifications and rising knowledge gained by experience. • Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files, or portable grinders to clean parts or to produce close fit between the parts. • Aligns components and bolts or can rivet them together, using hand tools, or portable powered tools. • Wires machines in accordance with wiring schematics. • Test electrical circuits to ensure proper operation. • May install moving parts, such as shafts, levers or bearings and manually works them to test for free movement of the parts. • Occasionally repair or rebuild machines. • Prepares picks. • Trouble shoots problems from customers. • May assemble systems of gears by aligning and meshing gears in gearbox. • May also test or assist in testing operation of the completed product. • Provides assistance to co-workers as needed, in the spirit of teamwork, with the goal of meeting or exceeding customer requirements. • Supports and promotes a team environment. • Meets or exceeds all production and quality standards. • All other duties as assigned. MACHINE, EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED Basic Shop Tools, Special fixturing, Precision Calibration Equipment, Air Tools, Dynafile, Vices, Shears, Hand Presses and electric meter. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED • Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED. • Equivalent to 1 – 3 years practical trades training. • Experience/Skills: Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the use of drawings or blueprints, specifications, charts, tables, the use of precision measuring instruments and/or the use of some training generally applicable in a particular or specialized field. • Basic knowledge of wiring is required.
