Nexgen Metal Designs Systems is a high-performance exterior wall panel design and manufacturing company. We offer our employees, partners, and architectural clients the trust of a family-owned company that has been fabricating metal panels and sheet metal for over 60 years. We're looking to hire highly motivated individuals to join our team. We're looking for candidates with either CNC Machine Operating Experience, Carpentry, or Sheetmetal experience but it's not required and we will train the right candidate. Job duties will be assembling and fabricating ACM wall panels, using a shear to cut metal, operating a brake to bend metal, and crate building. Interested candidates must be a team player, able to follow directions/instructions, be able to work 40+ hours per week and overtime when required. Must know how to accurately use a tape measure, able to use hand and power tools, be able to stand for long periods of time, squat, bend, and kneel, lift 50+ pounds on occasion, follow all safety protocols and work in a safely manner, have reliable transportation and pass a drug screen. Bargaining unit: DLC1 Union pay step: 505 Starting rate: $39.72 DUTIES: Under supervision, to perform skilled work in fabricating, welding, burning, bending, blacksmithing and to assist a worker of higher classification with the more complicated work. • Assists with laying out the more complicated work and setting up and operating contour cutting machines, drill presses, power shear, bending roll, spot welder, and similar machines and sheet metal shop equipment. • Performs simple arc and acetylene welding and burning in fabricating or repairing metal parts or tools. • Lays out and assembles the less complicated work, using engineering drawings, sketches, samples and by any means necessary. • Makes or repairs equipment parts as directed. • Performs other related metal work as required and assigned. • Perform blacksmithing duties and operating the burn table • Perform general and routine maintenance of shop equipment – lubricating and cleaning up machines • Assists worker of higher classification with simple welding and burning in the field including elevated locations (as needed). Performs other work as assigned or required. Essential Functions • Handles hollow metal doors and frames weighing from 60 to 150 pounds • Performs fabrication on these products including: • Welding parts together • Using jigsaw or other power tools to cut holes in doors and frames • Using 40 pound electric grinder to smooth out welds, etc. • Installing vision kits and glass in doors • Using electric drills • Reads Work Orders and Product Templates to establish necessary fabrication to be performed • Other relative duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience • Forklift certification preferred • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test Knowledge, Skills And Abilities • Basic computer skills • Knowledge of architectural door materials and hardware • Good communication skills • Ability to accurately do arithmetic, read orders, write instructions and complete forms • Ability to work closely and cordially with other staff associates Physical Demands This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required. Work Environment This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions.
