Job Description: • Maintain and install the various components of aircraft sheet metal and composite. • Use of precision measuring devices. i.e.; micrometer, ball gauges, dial calipers, scales and all other calibrated devices. • Maintain documented records of work accomplished. • Works from and to MES planning, engineering drawings, blueprints, manufacturing specifications and procedures. • Demonstrate the ability to pull/query from MES and MEDS. • Adheres to quality procedures and instructions both written and verbal. • Notifies supervision of all malfunctions, defects and damages of material, equipment and/or product. • Expected to keep all areas clean, neat and orderly. • Preform visual and functional inspection of operations to ensure product meets all requirements and specifications. • Adhere to all company policies and safety programs. May be required to perform other related job duties as assigned. Requirements: • 5 + years of experience as sheet metal mechanic in manufacturing. • Basic knowledge and understanding of non-conformance tags with ability to preform repairs with supervision. • Ability to work independently with the knowledge and understanding of non-conformance tags, and the ability to perform repair requirements with minimal supervision. • Physical Requirements: lifting, climbing, grasping, holding, standing, bending, stooping and ability to work over head. • Ability to read and speak English proficiently required in order to perform the job. SHEET METAL MECHANIC LEADER (EXPERT)

Summary You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC LEADER (EXPERT) in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY to include work sites of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. This position is located in Shop 17. Applicants will only be considered for positions within their own UIC. For example: If you are within UIC 4523A, you will only be considered for positions within 4523A. Duties Help • You will manufacture, assemble, install, remove, and repair ventilation, furnishings, and items including but not limited to nonstructural bulkheads and overheads. • You will provide technical expertise on work instructions, interpreting instructions, and resolving problems for the sheet metal employees assigned to a project. • You will conduct shipboard pre-work inspections to determine if the work is in compliance the technical work document requirements, and make recommendations to resolve complex problems. • You will report to supervisors on the status and progress of work, nature of work delays and answer questions on overall work operations and problems. • You will inspect completed and in process work for quality of workmanship and adherence to requirements, specifications, standards, plans and schedules.
