Production & Workflow Management • Plan, schedule, and prioritize sign fabrication tasks to meet project deadlines. • Coordinate workloads across welding, metal fabrication, painting, channel letter assembly, electrical wiring, vinyl/print, and finishing departments. • Review job packets, drawings, and specs to ensure clear direction for production teams. • Track project progress and update management on timelines, challenges, and resource needs. Leadership & Team Oversight • Supervise and train fabrication staff, installers, and shop helpers. • Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure efficient use of labor and materials. • Maintain a positive, productive shop culture focused on teamwork and craftsmanship. • Conduct onboarding, skills development, and safety training for new employees. Quality Control • Inspect in-progress and completed signs to ensure compliance with UL standards, electrical codes, and company workmanship standards. • Troubleshoot fabrication issues and implement corrective actions. • Approve materials, components, and hardware before assembly. Safety & Compliance • Conduct regular safety inspections of tools, equipment, and work areas. • Ensure all electric sign components meet UL, NEC, and local code requirements. Inventory & Equipment Management • Monitor and manage inventory of materials, hardware, LEDs, transformers, and consumables. • Oversee maintenance of fabrication equipment (shears, brakes, welders, CNC routers, channel letter machines, etc.). • Submit purchase requests for materials and tools as needed. Cross-Department Coordination • Work closely with design/engineering to clarify drawings and specifications. • Communicate installation requirements and timelines with install crews. • Support project managers by providing technical insight and fabrication estimates. Experience • Proven construction site experience with a focus on metal fabrication, and electrical wiring. • Proficiency in Stick, MIG welding, TIG welding, and other welding techniques. • Familiarity with industrial hardware: Rivets, machine screws, fractional nuts and bolts. • Experience in operating forklifts and cranes safely within a work environment. • Strong understanding of basic math principles applicable to construction tasks. • Ability to work with various materials including sheet metal and structural steel. • Previous experience in machining, metal fabrication, or rigging is a plus.
