HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic

Sheet Metal Mechanic Waco, Inc., a Commercial HVAC Construction Company, located in Southwest Virginia, is seeking sheet metal mechanics with 3+ years of experience to perform HVAC equipment ductwork. Requirements • A working understanding of construction drawings and sketches. • Have knowledge of the various metals and sizes. • Maintain a team work environment • Work safely and comply with all health and safety related procedures/regulations. • Erect and install air handling units, VAV boxes • Install ductwork as slide & drive, snap lock and other required assemblies. • Fabricate and install duct for high efficiency HVAC systems to maximize efficiency of systems • Determines project requirements, scope, assembly sequence, required methods, using written or verbal instruction • Perform basic start up • Perform duties as assigned Physical Conditions • Routinely working with construction equipment, heavy machinery, hand and power tools • Craftsman may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. • Required to use fingers, handle and feel objects/tools and reach with hands and arms. ACIBuilds.com Summary/Objective: The Sheet Metal Mechanic fabricates, assembles, installs and repairs sheet metal using relevant equipment such as plenums, fire dampers, and diffusers. Essential Functions: • Installs distribution lines and equipment per plans, specifications and other contract documents • Installs joints of duct such as slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required • Reviews and converts blueprint specifications into shop drawings to be followed in the construction or assembly of sheet metal products • Erects and installs equipment such as air handling units, VAV boxes, fan power boxes, and others as required • Works safely and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures • Performs basic start-ups including soldering, pulling vacuums, nitrogen testing, and low voltage wiring • Installs ductless mini-splits • Determines project requirements, such as scope, assembly sequences, required methods, materials, using blueprints, drawings, written or verbal instructions • Fastens seems or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components to products or to repair sheet metal items • Fabricates ducts for high efficiency heating ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maximize efficiency of systems • Selects gauges or types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications • Installs assemblies, such as flashing pipes, tubes, heating and air conditioning ducts, furnace casings, rain gutters, or downspouts in supportive frameworks • Performs other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility: No Required: • 2+ years of experience in sheet metal mechanic field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience • Familiarity with ductmate, spiral, slide and drive ductwork • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills • Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history) • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following: Work Environment: • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights Physical Demands: • This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools • While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. • Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus Travel: • May require travel Preferred: • Prior military experience • HS diploma or GED equivalent For more info check us out at ACIBuilds.com !
