Plumber Utility Mechanic I - 526857

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $19.33 - Midpoint: $24.18 (Hourly N5) Department/Organization: 504104 - Plumbing Maintenance Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm; some shift work & extended hours Job Summary: The Plumber Utility Mechanic I assists in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of heating, plumbing, mechanical piping systems, structural steel, package boiler equipment and water treatment, kitchen equipment, auxiliary equipment, steam, water, gas systems and other building mechanical equipment; auxiliary equipment, steam, water, sewers both sanitary and storm, irrigation systems gas and air systems and other building mechanical equipment; above and underground steam, domestic water, HVAC (chilled and hot water), sanitary and storm distribution systems; firing, tending and maintaining pressure boilers to supply heat for buildings and domestic hot water. Drives from site to site. Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of plumbing, pipefitting, structural steel (iron worker), boilermaker, millwright, boiler tender, steamfitter, or sprinkler fitter experience. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Skills and Knowledge: Ability to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials, and supplies of the job. Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot blueprints, drawings, manuals, maps, schematics, and plans and do material takeoffs. Good people skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Good written and verbal communications skills. PLUMBING SERVICE APPRENTICE

Position Overview The Apprentice will shadow a Journeyman or licensed professional for a duration of two years before becoming eligible to take the journeyman exam. In this role, the Apprentice will assist the Journeyman with the installation and repair of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and/or Utilities in Residential or Commercial settings.
