See More Details >>JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE Skilled Plumber REPORTS TO Maintenance Foreman/Energy Management Specialist APPROVED November 24, 2015 JOB SUMMARY Performs skilled Journeyman level work in the installation, maintenance and repair of water, waste disposal and gas. Work is performed independently under general direction and reviewed upon completion for conformity to established specifications and accepted standards and procedures of the plumbing trade. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs repairs and maintenance on plumbing equipment • Installs, modifies, maintains and repairs all plumbing related equipment. • Reads and interprets blue print drawings, diagrams, sketches and schematics as they relate to the Plumbing trade. • Replaces, clans and makes repairs to flush valves and faucets; does lead caulking; wipes and tests lead joints; removes stoppage from sewer lines; cuts, seams and threads pipe; makes pipe frames and railings. • Prepares layouts and sketches of plumbing to be installed; inspects sanitary and other plumbing installations for needed repairs. • Performs trouble shooting of malfunctioning or inoperative equipment, diagnoses problems and completes repairs as necessary. • Assist HVAC technicians with plumbing related task concerning steam/gas boilers. • Performs light welding, and soft soldering. • Perform other reasonable and equitable job related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor which may or may not be within this trade. • Checks, repairs, and maintains sewage lift stations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, plus four (4) years’ experience in the plumbing trade, performing most of the above mentioned duties and responsibilities. The successful completion of up to four (4) years of verifiable formal training in the trade (vocational, military, or indentured apprentice school) may be substituted for a like amount of the experience requirement. Hold a valid Alabama driver’s license (Class A CDL may be required) and a Journeyman level license. Subject to drug test as required by law and school board policy and for operating school owned vehicles. • LANGUAGE SKILLS} Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Ability to communicate orally, politely and respectfully to others.
