Journey-Level Plumber

Position Details: 8.0 hrs/day, 7:00am - 3:30pm, 260 days/year Pay Range: $38.37 - $40.44/hr (depending on verified industry journeyman experience) Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance in accordance with the School Employee Benefits Board rules and regulations. School employees | Washington State Health Care Authority The job of "Journey-Level plumber" is for the purpose/s of maintaining plumbing systems to provide comfort, sanitation and safety within facilities; meeting appropriate craft related accessibility codes for students, staff and the public and meeting other building code/s (safety and health); providing information and documentation of activities; ensuring adequate materials are available for timely completion of job functions, ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and directing assigned workers as necessary. Essential Functions • Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures. • Installs plumbing systems and fixtures including sinks, hot water heaters, drinking fountains, etc. for the purpose of providing comfort, sanitation and safety within facilities. • Provides lists of supplies, equipment and tools needed for the purpose of ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner. • Renovates plumbing systems for the purpose of meeting appropriate accessibility to students, staff and the public and/or building code/s (safety and health). • Repairs school site plumbing, equipment, and components including gas regulator, kitchen equipment, etc. for the purpose of providing renovation and preventative maintenance of plumbing systems. • Responds to emergency situations (e.g. broken plumbing, drainage problems, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. • Remodels district facilities for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient utilization of space • Inspects school or district facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc. • Transports various items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job site as required to complete tasks. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. • Assists other trades as needed for the purpose of meeting demands and completing work orders in a timely manner. • Coordinates with district and other trades' staff for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently. • Directs personnel as assigned for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce and meeting shift requirements. • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies. • Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience Required: Prior journeyman-level plumber experience. Minimum 12 years of plumber experience preferred. • Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills to: operate hand and power tools used in craft; develop, read and interpret plans/blueprints; perform basic math to make calculations. • Knowledge of: methods and use of materials, tools and equipment used in craft; appropriate building codes; safety (MSDS) requirements. • Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, establish priorities, work independently and with minimal supervision, work in wet slippery conditions. • Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, reaching/handling/finger dexterity, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/depth perception. • Training Required: Journeyman plumber, or 12 years plumber experience. • Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, and valid CPR/First Aid cards. • Other Requirements: Must have and maintain a phone and be willing to respond to off-hour emergency calls; must have own vehicle; must have all relevant tools; must have excellent moral character and be able to get along with staff, students and adults; must present a positive public image, maintain a neat, clean personal appearance, wear clothing appropriate to tasks being performed, and have regular and consistent work attendance EDUCATION: • High school diploma and/or equivalent; prior job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Completion of Plumber apprenticeship program preferred.
