Specialized Trades Worker (Plumber)

This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Operations Team. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service. FMDC Vision - Building for a Stronger Tomorrow (BFAST) • Prioritize excellent customer service for wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public. • Monitor plumbing and pipefitting systems, including but not limited to chilled water, boiler, and steam to ensure optimal functionality. • Complete routine preventative maintenance work orders according to established schedules and standards. • General plumbing tasks such as unclogging blocked pipes and drains, installing fixtures and appliances, repairing and replacing pipe (including materials such as PVC, cast iron and copper) components and fittings. • Apply trade-specific knowledge to troubleshooting, repair, and remediation tasks. • Occasionally perform other work relating but not limited to electrical, electronics, carpentry, concrete and masonry, welding, HVAC, painting, and more. • Heavy lifting, manual labor, and operating machinery and heavy equipment per project needs. • Answer emergency calls and occasionally travel to other facilities to provide coverage and assistance. • Provide coverage at state facilities after hours and/or for emergency purposes (i.e., severe weather, snow removal, water leaks, fire, and more) to ensure facilities and grounds are properly maintained and cleared for team members and the public to conduct state business. • Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards. • Other duties as assigned. • Ability to communicate, collaborate and lead with integrity in a manner that inspires trust and builds positive rapport with a diverse group of stakeholders and the public. • Ability to manage numerous time-sensitive projects independently or as part of a team using procedures, processes, regulations, and practices applicable to plumbing/pipefitting and other trades. • 2 or more years of on-the-job training, education and/or experience in plumbing, pipefitting or related trade. (Substitutions may apply.) • Experience operating and maintaining various equipment and tools. • Ability to discern skill set needed for projects and whether it can be completed in-house or by a contractor. • Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. • OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred (FMDC can provide if needed.) • Excellent attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, communication and critical thinking skills. • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from Missouri or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri. Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant. Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate's name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position. Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment. The Office of Administration will not sponsor applicants for work visas. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay. • This position is physically demanding. Examples of job duties may include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending/driving, climbing ladders, ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather and working on uneven or elevated surfaces. Please note, this position is considered a “Category 2” under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning the incumbent will be compensated for overtime (hours actually worked over forty hours in a workweek) at the rate of time and one-half.
