Employment Type: Full-Time. Job Overview: Insight Contracting is looking for an experienced Plumber to join our commercial and residential remodeling and maintenance teams. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and installing plumbing fixtures in both residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plumbing within the construction industry, the ability to provide some of their own tools, and a commitment to safety and quality in the field. This is a fast-paced position that requires working independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities: • Plumbing Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and clean supply and drainage plumbing in residential and commercial units, both occupied and vacant. • Fixture Repair & Installation: Install and repair faucets, fixtures, water heaters, disposals, and other plumbing components. • Troubleshooting: Inspect and diagnose plumbing issues, including repairing both small- and large-scale leaks. • Confined Space Work: Comfortably work in tight or confined spaces such as closets, attics, and crawl spaces. • Code Compliance: Ensure plumbing installations and repairs comply with Missouri, Boone County, and City of Columbia plumbing codes. • Team Training: Assist in training fellow team members in plumbing-related skills and techniques. • Cross-Training: Learn or expand your knowledge in mechanics, HVAC systems, drywall, etc., to enhance your skill set. • Snow Duty: During winter months, be available for snow duty, including shoveling, plowing, and spreading ice melt. • Inventory Management: Maintain a clean and organized inventory in company storage and provided vehicles. • Work Orders: Troubleshoot work orders with tenants over the phone or in-person, ensuring customer satisfaction. • Emergency Maintenance: Provide on-call services to tenants per our Emergency Maintenance Standards. • Unit Turns: Perform plumbing work during unit turns within deadlines set by management. • Supply Ordering: Assist the supervisor with ordering maintenance supplies while staying within the allocated budget. • PPE: Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required based on the nature of the work being performed. • Service Tracking: Keep accurate records of work performed at each location through a service-tracking application installed on a mobile device. • Tracking Protocols: Adhere to and actively promote company tracking protocols and procedures, including using data for billing confirmation, emergency response optimization, safe-driving habits, and recording driving data in case of an incident. • Collaboration: Work alongside other technicians to develop a comprehensive maintenance team that delivers top-quality service and minimizes callbacks. • Communication: Effectively communicate with management, tenants, and other technicians to ensure smooth operations. • Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management. Minimum Qualifications: • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license and a corporate-insurable driving record. • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • Licensing: Master’s License in Boone County and the City of Columbia (required). • Experience: 2+ years of plumbing experience in a residential, commercial, or industrial setting. • Physical Requirements: Ability to grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and use various trades tools and equipment. Perform any necessary repairs to previously installed systems. Clean drains, remove obstructions, and repair or replace broken pipes and fixtures. Install, repair, and maintain equipment and lines that service water pipes ranging from standard systems to specialized installations. Preserve water heaters, repair toilets, and fix ice machines as needed. May be required to inspect, test, service, and maintain water softening equipment. Cut, thread, and join pipes. May perform soldering, lead wiping, acetylene, and electric cutting and welding. Insulate and paint lines and equipment as required. Drill holes in walls, floors, and ceilings. Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment. Observe and enforce all safety requirements related to equipment operation. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records. Perform other duties as assigned. Shift Monday thru Friday 7:30am - 3pm; Night and Events as needed. Minimum Qualifications • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. • Four years actual work experience and training which may include equivalent of apprenticeship or completion of vocational training, in the trade. • Ability to read blueprints, plans, drawings, and plumbing diagrams. • Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade. • Ability on a daily basis to: - Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment. - Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.). - Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc. - Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs. - Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. • A valid driver’s license may be required.
