Excel - Plumbing Designer

A Plumbing Designer will receive direction and supervision from either a Project Designer (PD) or Project Manager (PM). May participate in or conduct client meetings at the direction of the PD or PM. Needs to be capable of producing a complete set of design documents including plans, isometrics, specifications, and details based on solid engineering principles and code knowledge. Shall be capable of doing their own drafting using Revit as Excel’s primary drafting software (AutoCAD experience is acceptable) as needed and related Microsoft Office software. Depending on the project may supervise one or more drafting technicians. Will conduct out of office field surveys prior to design as well as construction inspections as needed by the project requirements. Will be required to review shop drawings and RFI requests. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with minimum four years including relevant education. Experience as a plumber with a MPL doing in-house design work will be considered.

Plumbing Designer

About the position Responsibilities • Provide comprehensive design of plumbing systems for assigned projects. • Create complex systems and develop all system drawings, specifications, calculations, and bill of material lists. • Ensure that the field/shop has what they need for optimal productivity and efficiency during project execution. • Operate independently in a methodical yet fast-paced manner to set up subsequent project stages for success and timely completion. Requirements • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Design, Civil Engineering, Computer Aided Drafting/Design or related field, or field installation experience. • Proficiency in a recent version of Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud. • Strong understanding of commercial or industrial building construction. • Working knowledge of steam and hydronic systems. • Ability to manage a design team's schedule and lead coordination efforts. • Strong problem-solving skills and strong math skills. • Ability to read blueprints.
