Job Description Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of university plumbing to ensure functional campus systems. Inspects university plumbing equipment, diagnoses problems, and makes necessary adjustments. Maintains records of university plumbing needs and helps prepare maintenance reports with information related to university plumbing systems to be used for recommendations. General Duties - 55% • Installs, repairs and maintains chilled water, steam, heat, water, gas, drainage, sewage and other plumbing systems. • Inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, valves and other plumbing system components to locate malfunctions and repairs or replaces when necessary. • Receives and responds to plumbing maintenance requests from campus members regarding NAU Facilities. • Records time and materials for customer billing Supplemental Duties - 40% • Operates reamers, threading discs, sewer tapes, pipe cutters, snakes and other plumbing equipment and hand tools. • Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations. • Completes calculations and measurements to ensure pipes function correctly. • Performs preventative maintenance work as required. • Escalates issues and questions to senior staff. Other - 5% • Other duties as assigned. • Removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required. Minimum Qualifications • High school degree. • 1-2 years of plumbing work experience. • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications • Completion of a four year federally approved technical training program in plumbing. • Commercial plumbing experience.
