PVC Pipefitter

Location : Colorado Springs, CO 80915 Duration : 05+ month Contract (Likely to convert to FT) Shift : 6 am - 2:30 pm/ 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm (Possible OT, mandatory) Pay Rate : $21 – 23.10/hr. Responsibilities: • Follows all policies and guidelines regarding workplace safety and product quality. • Successfully completes all site-specific training regarding safety and quality. • Receives components or items for assembly and/or test in programmed sequence • Assembles mechanical or electrical components by means of sensitive hand and equipment coordination • Assembles all variations of in-house standard products • Follows assembly/test instructions, e.g. color code, pvc solvent welding and thread taping. • Uses simple hand or power tools along with uncomplicated jigs and fixtures • Enter work hours in ERP system (Currently SAP), if applicable to site • Completes required documentation relative to production and quality • Drives continuous improvement process and conducts daily housekeeping/5S audits to ensure continuous improvement activities. • May read and interpret blueprints (product specific) • Maintains equipment and area in a clean safe condition • Will plumb variations of standard and custom products • Occasionally assist with in house plumbing mechanical work • Uses simple hand or power tools along with complicated jigs and fixtures • Update and redline drawings as required Requirements: • Minimum 6 months’ relevant experience required. • Mechanical, electrical and pneumatic experience a PLUS • Ability to troubleshoot and rebuild filter presses highly preferred • Ability to read and interpret blueprints (if applicable) • Proficient in the use of hand tools • High school diploma or GED • PPE - safety glasses, steel toe shoes Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $21.00 - $23.10 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits: • Health insurance Schedule: • 8 hour shift • Evening shift • Monday to Friday • Overtime • Weekends as needed Work Location: In person

About the position The Plumber/Pipefitter position at Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation (THTBC) involves a variety of tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing or repairing water, steam, gas, or other types of piping and pipefitting. This role requires a thorough understanding of plumbing codes and the ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications. The candidate will be expected to lay out work, measure to locate the position of pipes, and cut various sizes of pipe to the correct lengths using tools such as chisels, hammers, oxyacetylene torches, or pipe cutting machines. In addition to cutting and threading pipes, the plumber will also be responsible for bending pipes, assembling them with couplings, and fastening them to hangers. The role includes making standard computations related to pressures, flow, and size of pipes required, as well as conducting tests to ensure that finished pipes meet specifications. The plumber will also inspect structures to identify obstructions and determine the best installation methods to avoid compromising the integrity of the building. The position requires the assembly and installation of valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made from various materials, including metals and nonmetals. The plumber will join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and caulks, and will be responsible for filling pipe systems with water or air to check for leaks. Responsibilities • Laying out work and measuring to locate position of pipe from drawings or other written specifications. , • Cutting various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with chisel and hammer, oxyacetylene torch or pipe cutting machines. , • Threading pipe with stocks and dies. , • Bending pipe by hand-driven or power-driven machines. , • Assembling pipe with couplings and fastening pipe to hangers. , • Making standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow and size of pipe required. , • Making standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications. , • Assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. , • Studying building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. , • Inspecting structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe. , • Locating and marking position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors. , • Cutting openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools. , • Joining pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints. , • Filling pipe system with water or air and reading pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. , • Installing and repairing plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners. , • Repairing and maintaining plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. , • Performing other duties as assigned. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of plumbing experience; plumbing Apprentice or higher required. , • Knowledge of the Uniform Plumbing Code; plumbing certifications and licensing as required by the state. , • Two years' related pipefitting experience. , • Ability to demonstrate pipefitting processes to join, surface, fabricate, repair, or replace piping systems. , • Fire Suppression System Plumbers: in-depth experience in design, installation, modification, and maintenance of all types of suppression systems; certified in backflow prevention; familiar with NFPA codes 13, 70, 72, and 101; certified by ASSE, ABPA, or ABC. , • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position. , • Ability to speak, read, and write English. , • Must be able to work independently and interact well with others in a team setting. , • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities. , • Highly motivated, flexible, organized, and detail-oriented. , • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. , • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite. , • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices. , • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). , • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, including weekends and holidays. , • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification. , • Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 60 lbs. , • Must possess the ability to work in confined spaces such as manholes, steam tunnels, and pump stations. , • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice. , • Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a company vehicle. , • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle. , • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
