To perform from schematics and drawings, the making, installation and assembly of piping for industrial equipment. Apply safe work practices and policies in the performance of all assigned works. Welds and grinds steel and light gauge sheet metal materials including low carbon steel, stainless steel, zinc-coated carbon steel and other commonly used alloy steels. This job description represents only the primary areas of responsibility; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department. Your Responsibilities Will Be: • Demonstrate professional competency & workmanship in the execution of welding/pipefitting. • Contribute to the plant equipment safety, performance and reliability improvement. • Responsibly manage the time and resources allocated on every job. • Accurately reading and understanding blueprints and schematics to determine pipe layout, dimensions, and welding specifications. • Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipes to the required dimensions using hand and power tools. • Installing pipe fittings and components according to project specifications. • Performing various welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG) to join pipes securely, ensuring proper penetration and bead quality. • Visually inspecting welds for defects, ensuring proper alignment and quality. • Following all safety protocols related to welding, including proper PPE usage and working in confined spaces. • Maintaining and cleaning welding equipment, ensuring optimal functionality. • Lifting and positioning heavy pipes and components as needed. • Identifying and resolving issues that may arise during pipe installation or welding. • Maintaining accurate records of materials used and work completed. Required Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED. • Graduate of Welding school like PTECH. • 3-5 years’ experience in welding and assembly is required. • Ability to read blueprints. • Mathematics-Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry. • Knowledge of machines and tools used in metal fabrication such as cut-off wheels, grinders, saws and cranes. ADA Requirements: Positions in this function typically require standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods. • Compliance with company attendance standards. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
