Responsbilities Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine bricklaying requirements Plan layout and alignments, establish reference lines, and mark guidelines using plumb bobs, spirit levels, and laser levels Prepare and lay building materials (brick, block, stone, terra cotta, etc.) in mortar Mix, apply, and finish mortar to bond masonry units Cut, trim, or shape bricks, blocks, or other masonry units using hand tools or power saws Build or repair walls, partitions, foundations, chimneys, arches, columns, and other structural features Install reinforcement (steel rods, mesh) when required Pointing, tuckpointing, repointing, patch repair, and restoration of existing masonry Erect and use scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment safely Assist in material handling: unloading, staging, and transporting masonry materials to work areas Maintain work area: clean up, dispose of debris, and adhere to safety rules Comply with all safety rules and regulations, and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) Qualifications 2+ years experience working as a bricklayer, additional block experience a plus Ability to read blueprints, plans and specifications Knowledge and familiarity with masonry materials, tools, methods, and best practices Skill in mixing mortar to proper consistency and applying it correctly Must have personal masonry tools and required PPE Reliable personal transportation to commute to and from jobsites Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work at heights or in various weather conditions Benefits Competitive Pay: Your salary is based on experience, and we pay weekly. Full job description The Field Superintendents at Podojil Builders are responsible for the day-to-day operation of a specific jobsite. QSR, Fuel Stations and Fast Food. They manage the daily scheduling of subcontractors and vendors, coordination of deliveries, safety meetings and toolbox talks, submission of weekly job logs, and quality assurance. The position requires travel for periods of up to 5 of 7 days. The ideal candidate will have 3 years or more of applicable work experience, OSHA training, and computer skills. Integrity, work ethic, and the drive to exceed the customer’s expectations are critical characteristics of our team and will be at the core of the ideal candidate. Commercial Construction Superintendent Experience: • Minimum 3+ years position related experience or 1+ years position related experience with B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering. • Experience in Restaurant, Petroleum, Gas Station, C-Store and/or Retail construction preferred but not mandatory. Commercial Construction Superintendent Skills: • Understand commercial construction techniques to a high degree in principle and practice including fundamentals of earth work, reinforced cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, wood framing methods and engineering detail, as well as electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints • Demonstrate familiarity with applicable building codes and regulations including UBC, UPC, NEC, NFPA, and ADA. • Knowledge and understanding of fast-track scheduling methods • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and familiarity with smart phones, tablets, and Microsoft Project. • Knowledge in commercial construction, construction management, logistics planning and coordination, building trades and associated language. • Demonstrates positive, proactive thinking, and problem solving. • Ability to recognize problems and produce workable alternative solutions that meet the owner/clients expectations. • Knowledge of general safety practices • Oral, written, and electronic communication skills are critical • The ability to work as a team member in a crisis situation and to interact with all levels of the organization is essential. • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record and background check • Ability to pull trailers (non CDL) • Ability to lift 80lbs multiple times • Ability to travel required.
