The Construction Manager will be the site SME on construction planning/scheduling (especially in plant turnaround situations), construction strategy, change order management and contractor resource management Essential Duties & Responsibilities with % Breakdown: Identify the major activities or responsibilities of the job (usually 4 to 6). Using a short phrase name or list each activity; estimate the percentage of time spent on each one. Then describe each activity in detail, and how it is done. Use increments of 10% and higher. • Construction Manager daily activities-70% • * The construction manager will manage multiple projects concurrently on daily basis • Predicts and eliminates problems/issues before they impact project performance • Sets appropriate KPIs to manage field construction activities • Establishes appropriate action/implementation plans for the field construction activities • Manages subcontractors and material suppliers • Provides input on subcontractor selection process • Reviews and approves project safety plans, quality plans, noncritical rigging/lifting plans and logistic plans • Coordinate pre job activities, LOTO, and blinding with site HES, operations, and subcontractors • Reviews critical lift plans and seeks appropriate engineering approvals • Manages project resources including but not limited to construction superintendents, cost controllers, quality control representatives, planners and schedulers • Project Closeout Reviews and Document Management - 20% • * Conducts field construction critiques • Works with capital project manages to implement lessons learned for future projects • Leadership accountability to ensure that procedures are in place to define field construction strategies based on evaluated or expected risks • Properly managing the records associated with field construction activities • Utilizing proper Arkema documentation systems as the location for the construction records • HES Support and MOC Action Items - 5% • HSE responsibilities include but are not restricted to those outlined in leadership expectations such as reporting any incident in a timely manner. • * Ensuring safe procedures and processes followed by all team members. • Championing continuous improvement for the department in all areas of HES • Ensure construction activities meets/exceeds local/national regulatory compliance/RAGAGEPs. • Communication - 5% • * Working effectively with several cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with all levels of the organization • Providing strategic insight to the site construction activities • Being the recognized expert on construction planning/scheduling (especially in plant turnaround situations), construction strategy, change order management and contractor resource management • Accountable for communication of the status field construction activities to appropriate stakeholders Minimum Qualifications and Education Required Min Years of Experience • Minimum 10 years of construction management experience in Chemical or Petrochemical Manufacturing environment • Demonstrated record of delivering results on small/mid-size and/or complex projects • Mastery knowledge of contracting strategies, cost estimating, project controls, change order management, project scheduling and schedule control Education and area of focus • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited College/University or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience of construction planning and execution methods. Certifications/Trainings: • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), PMP, PMI-CP is plus Competencies -Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs) • Leadership to manage maintenance driven projects and/ or complex projects (revamping) • Influential in multicultural environment • Results oriented • Capacity to anticipate project issues • Cooperative • Innovative/creative/resourceful • Diplomat/persuasive/good listener • Function self-sufficiently, with little direction or supervision on project engineering/management activities • Ability to read, understand and utilize equipment drawings and P&ID's • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and SAP. • Demonstrated leadership, learning and development skills. • Initiative and self-starter. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to effectively interface with manufacturing, engineering, and other functions including contractors. • Strong interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to solve problems and present solutions. • Ability to influence without formal authority.
