Loader Operator (Jacksonville, TX)

About the position Big Creek Construction is seeking a skilled Loader Operator to join our team at the asphalt plant located in Jacksonville, TX. The Loader Operator will be responsible for operating a Loader Backhoe, utilizing loader controls to lower and tilt the bucket, and driving forward to engage the bucket with bulk materials. This position requires a strong focus on safety and efficiency, as the operator will work closely with other crew members to coordinate tasks using hand signals and ensure a safe working environment. The Loader Operator will perform essential functions including moving levers to raise and tilt the bucket when filled or to dump materials, conducting daily maintenance and safety checks on the equipment, and operating other construction equipment as required. Labor work may also be necessary, and the operator must maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and safety at the job site. Daily inspections and maintenance of the loader are crucial to ensure it is in safe, proper working order, including fluid checks and lubrication. The operator will report to the Supervisor when maintenance or repairs are needed and will keep the loader clean and prepared for transport on a flatbed when necessary. The work environment for this position involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor conditions, which may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and dust from asphalt. The role demands physical stamina, as the operator must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects, and utilize abdominal and lower back muscles effectively. Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are essential, and the noise level in the work environment is generally loud. The Loader Operator must also be prepared to work overtime and weekends as required. Requirements • Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Loader Operator or in a similar role. , • Pass a pre-employment 'Fit for Work' physical. , • Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. , • Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
