The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in construction estimating and project management, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities • Oversee multiple industrial and commercial construction projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality guidelines. • Prepare detailed project estimates and manage financial aspects throughout the project lifecycle. • Direct in-house teams, trade professionals, and subcontractors, maintaining clear communication and rigorous standards. • Maintain meticulous records, project documentation, and regular status reports to support operational excellence. • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring effective communication and fostering strong, long-term relationships. • Utilize MS Office Suite, MS Project, and basic AutoCAD skills to facilitate project planning and tracking. • Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards to ensure project success and regulatory compliance. Construction Project Accountant

Do you want to be part of the Riley Construction Co., Inc. team? We are one of the fastest growing commercial construction companies in the Southeastern WI/Northern IL area and great things are happening! We currently have an opening for a qualified Project Accountant in our Kenosha, WI office. SUMMARY The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned construction projects, including tracking job costs, preparing accurate billings, and ensuring cost projections are up to date. This role works closely with project managers and the operations team to ensure that all project-related financial data is accurately recorded and reported. The Project Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining timely and accurate invoicing, reconciling costs, and ensuring that funds are appropriately requested and allocated throughout the life cycle of each project. Responsibilities: Job Setup and Closeout • Sets up jobs in Viewpoint and Outlook based on information provided. • Reviews subcontracts at job closeout to ensure they have been reconciled and fully billed. • Finalizes financial aspects of job closeout, ensuring all billings and costs are completed and reconciled. Cost Accumulation and Billing • Enters vendor invoices/billings into the system for Project Manager approval and posts to job cost once approved. • Reviews vendor invoices to ensure they appropriately include or exclude sales and use tax, and comply with contractual requirements, including required documentation (waivers, certified payrolls, sworn statements). • Tracks and manages lien waivers from subcontractors and vendors, assisting with questions regarding invoices, waivers, and accounts. • Coordinates the billing process for all assigned projects, including scheduling billing meetings, drafting the bills, facilitating reviews, obtaining approvals, gathering supporting documentation and submitting to clients. • Enters and validates annual labor and equipment rate changes into the accounting system. Cost Projections and Reporting • Executes the cost projection update process for all assigned projects, including posting approved costs and change orders, generating cost projection reports, and reconciling profit earned to date. • Reviews project manager changes for accuracy and reasonableness before posting updates for month-end processing. Audit and Financial Review • Supports job-specific documentation requests and answers auditor questions as part of the annual financial statement audit. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Associate's degree in Accounting or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. • 1-3 years related experience and/or training in the construction industry • Strong organizational skills, grit, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders-including accountants, subcontractors, project managers, and owners-throughout the day.
