A-Level Automotive Diagnostic Technician – Mason Automotive

Mason Automotive in Bloomington, Indiana is hiring an experienced, A-Level Diagnostic Technician to join our team. This is not an entry-level or general R&R role—we’re looking for a true diagnostic expert to take over the complex drivability and electrical work as our current lead tech transitions into a full-time Service Manager role. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with engine performance, emissions systems, electrical diagnostics, CAN bus and network faults, lab scope waveform interpretation, module programming, and scan tool data analysis. You’ll primarily be diagnosing, but may also handle high-skill follow-up repairs when workload requires. We work on both domestic and import vehicles (cars, trucks, vans), so the ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, service procedures, and OEM technical data is essential. Daily responsibilities may include check engine light diagnostics, Electrical system troubleshooting, steering/suspension noise trouble shooting, and more. Dealership or manufacturer-specific training is a plus, as is L1 certification, hybrid/EV or diesel diagnostic experience. You’ll be supported by a skilled service team, and experienced office staff. This is a full-time, hourly pay position—not flat rate—as we prioritize quality over speed. The Construction Inspector will support the firm’s construction group on a variety of projects that may include infrastructure, wastewater treatment, and roadway construction. What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job • Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed. • Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies. • Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work. • Serve as liaison with contractor. • Maintain job site records of daily reports, job meeting minutes, approved drawings, and pay requests. • Observe, measure and document construction activities. • Maintain a daily log of construction activities. • Monitor progress schedule and shop drawing log. • Review pay requests and verify completed work. • Detailed designs as required by workload. • General civil engineering and client service. • Assist with design of future projects during off season. • Other responsibilities as assigned. Education Requirement • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management, or related field (will consider experience in lieu of a degree). Must-haves, what you will bring • 3+ years of proven progressive experience in consultant construction engineering. • Computer skills and mastery of proprietary software (IDOT/Tollway construction management programs, etc). • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation). • Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities. • Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills. • Work within a team-first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals. Preferred Qualifications Compensation - The pay range for this role is $70,000 to $95,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications. You matter!
