Job Summary Efficiently, effectively, safely, and independently set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and operate a variety of MANUAL MACHINE TOOLS including lathes and mills producing parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions at production rate (very tight tolerancing) This is a low-volume and high mix production environment. Responsibilities Must be a subject matter expert in the following functions/activities (perform correctly and without assistance): • Interpret complicated blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications. • Determine the sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup. • Select, mount, and align various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling. • Make necessary and correct machine adjustments to improper machine functioning or cutting action. • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides. • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut. • Accurately monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures. • Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments. • Understand materials and applications as required. • Solve problems relative to the work-holding arrangement, unusual materials, machine setting, tools, product specifications, and fabrication methods for the production process. • Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods. • Install and adjust cutting tools consistent with the type and size of material being machined. • Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts, per documentation. • Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers, and comparators. • Visually inspect parts for burrs or damage machined surfaces. • Maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to requirements. • Implement lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement. • Effectively apply lean concepts and tools in the work area. • Observe all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintain a clean and orderly work area. Shop Machinist (2nd Shift)

If you are a Quality & Safety committed CNC Machinist/Programmer looking for a position where you can apply your experience, strong work ethic and outstanding abilities to a globally established, continually growing company, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you in Gonzales, LA! You will be responsible for manufacturing proprietary machined valve components used in a variety of industries, such O&G, petro-chem, power and even aviation/aerospace. With your CNC programming/machining skills, you will be producing both internal and external new valve parts to very close tolerances from a variety of material types (carbon steel, 300/400 series SS, high-nickel alloys, etc.) using CNC lathes and CNC mills. In addition to machining new valve parts, you will also be an integral contributor to our professional service team, which is responsible for making repairs to existing valves and valve components. This role is 2nd Shift- Monday- Friday 3:30 PM- 12:00 AM In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Be responsible for personal safety and for the safety of others. Must maintain excellent housekeeping standards. Set-up, indicate, and machine raw material (bar stock, forgings, and castings) to manufacture Fisher parts to OEM print dimensions. Develop and edit CNC programs using G-code and other programming languages. Verify program accuracy and troubleshoot any programming issues. Cross-train on all machines to prevent lapse in production flow including but not limited to engine lathes, manual drills, horizontal bandsaws, CNC lathes, VTLs, HBMs, and CNC mills. Must understand material hardness, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques. Interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) per part drawings. Potential for field assignments using in-line machine. Some travel may be required. Adherence to all safety, quality, and environmental rules and regulations. Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart: Mechanical related Associates degree or 5+ years of experience with machining and fabricating. Proven understanding of CAD/CAM (MasterCam) & SolidWorks’ modeling is preferred Welding knowledge preferred. Experience in the process control industry is a plus. Knowledge of analyzing, evaluating, diagnosing, and resolving equipment and process related problems is strongly preferred. Adjunct Faculty Pool - Machining and Tool Technology (MATT)

Compensation: Based on Adjunct Pay Schedule Compensation Type: Salary Employment Type: Adjunct/Part Time Faculty (Fixed Term) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Grade: Department: Instruction Position Summary An adjunct instructor is appointed on a term contract for instructional, temporary and part-time assignments. They are not assigned to other responsibilities such as professional service or college service. They have no right to reappointment. Persons appointed at this rank will vary in minimal academic qualifications but generally shall have a relevant doctoral or equivalent terminal degree to teach at the upper division and graduate level, and a master's degree for lower division courses. All degrees shall be from accredited institutions or from internationally reputable and recognized institutions. Exceptions to these requirements may be made by the Provost upon presentation of evidence of a record of experience or other credentials that indicate academic degree equivalence. Adjunct Faculty members can only serve as Faculty Senators if they teach during the current semester or have taught within the last fiscal year. Duties & Responsibilities As part of their contracted duties and specified by their division Dean or Associate Dean, Adjunct Faculty may be expected to perform the following: • Provide the most effective instruction possible in one's discipline to insure that the educational needs of students are met and that students achieve specified learning objectives. • Teach assigned courses, whether on campus or off campus, day or evening, following the official syllabi and using approved textbooks and other learning materials. • Meet all classes regularly and on time, as scheduled, and for their full duration. • Establish learning objectives and outcomes for assigned courses. • Evaluate student performance (attainment of learning objectives) and assign grades. • Make arrangements for appointments with students as needed. • Upgrade the educational program by evaluating course content, student needs, and instructional methods; make recommendations for improvement. • Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, etc. • Make arrangements with the department chair or associate dean for covering classes when scheduling an absence. • Meet all deadlines in submitting grades or other required information on students. • Attend faculty meetings • Under general supervision and in accordance with departmentally established practices and expectations, adjunct faculty teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi. • Maintain office hours and accessibility to students; and advise students. • A variety of schedule options are available including teaching 4-week and 8-week courses. • Preforms other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Associate's degree in machining or related field • Two (2) years additional machinist experience supported by portfolio, industry credentials, or completed machinist apprenticeship program OR • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Preferred Qualifications • One year of teaching or training experience, preferably in a community college setting.
