Senior Machinist

Agile Space Industries is seeking a Senior Machinist to support the production of rocket engines at our manufacturing center in beautiful Durango, Colorado. In this role, you will work with our Manufacturing Director to maintain the facilities support the machining, assembly, and delivery of high-quality rocket hardware for in-space propulsion and R&D applications. Responsibilities: • Operate lathes, mills, and surface grinders • Perform inspections using metrology equipment • Provide feedback on engineering drawings to improve machinability • Maintain equipment • Assemble hardware as needed • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures • Meets job standard times with minimal supervision • Basic Troubleshooting skills and must be able to recognize production problems such as out-of-tolerance Machining, poor finishes, damaged or worn cutters, and tooling • Working both independently and collaboratively within a team of individual contributors to enable every member to succeed in their respective tasks • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS). • Lead, train, or mentor others by providing regular technical direction and oversight on machine tools, controllers and manufacturing processes. • Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of machining experience • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Able to self-direct work • Computer skills such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, etc • Candidate must be a US Citizen or permanent resident. Preferred Responsibilities: • Experience with CNC or conversational machines • Proficiency with CAD and CAM • Experience with machining forged, cast, or 3D printed parts • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in team environments • Seeks to constantly improve and optimize facilities Physical Demands In performing the work for this position, the technician must be able to: • Sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area. • Stand for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. • Walk for reasonable distances in performing the work. • Lift / carry objects weighing up to 25lbs routinely unassisted and 50 lbs. on occasion in performing the work. • Pull or push objects weighing up to 25lbs routinely unassisted and 50 lbs. on occasion in performing the work. • Grasp objects utilizing the fingers (fine motor manipulation). • Reach for objects above the head or below the waist. • Stoop or crouch by bending at the waist or by bending the legs. • Withstand exposure to constant or intermittent high noise levels Work Environment & Conditions The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required including: • Safety glasses • Hearing protection (varies based on tasks) • Safety shoes Employment Type: Non-Exempt Salary: $32 - $40 an hour • Occasional overtime to meet business needs • Hourly Rate for this position will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and will be compared with internal equity along with market data for this position. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus through the company bonus program. This position may also be eligible to receive a Relocation bonus, payable as a taxable lump sum, in accordance with the Agile Relocation Policy. 2nd Shift CNC Machinist

Position Overview: The CNC Programmer will program, set-up, and operate Mazak Mills or Lathes using Mazatrol programing. We also use Fusion 360 and Solid Works CAD/CAM software. Experience in either of the two would be extremely helpful. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of programming experience. Short production/job shop work environment requires you to be able to work safely while also maintaining quality and deadlines. Specific Responsibilities Include: • Program, set-up, and operate Mazak Mills or Lathes • Change, set and adjust tools as required • Understand how to use various software applications to program machines • Load and delete programs in the computer. • Make machine adjustments of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine. • Supervise and oversee the work of other CNC Programmers • Check parts using specified gages or measuring tools to see that dimensions are being maintained. • Report improper machine function and/or check parts not being held to the proper dimensions. • Able to use machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments. The ideal candidate MUST: • Be completely knowledgeable in reading and understanding 2D prints and/or 3D models, including knowledge of GD&T • Possess strong math skills and have a good understanding of conversational Mazatrol or some type of CAM software • Have knowledge of G code, M code, tool selection, grades, tool geometry and coatings. • Have a full and strong understanding of how the CNC will be milling components per the material being machined. • Ability to design and manufacture fixtures that may be needed to complete the job. • Excellent management skills. • Understand how to keep the machine in good working order and how all the materials and processes that a CNC is programmed for. • Know how to use measuring tools including, calipers, micrometers, thread gages and wires, depth micrometers, etc. Qualifications/Experience: • High School education • Minimum of 5 years CNC Programing experience • Experience with CAM and Mazaks • Ability to read blueprints. • Strong math skills are a requirement to successfully perform (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals). • Have complete knowledge of the machinability of metals. • Have the knowledge of and/or the ability to learn shop geometry and trigonometry. • Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment. • Must be able to operate in a heavy deadline environment. • Must be an energetic self-starter and have a strong sense of urgency, and capable of following tasks through to completion. • Excellent organization and proven verbal and written communication skills. • Supervisory Responsibility • Must be able to speak, read and write English as part of the job. Other Important Information: Work Environment - This job operates in a shop environment where tools and other machinery is used. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. General office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, this schedule may vary based on the needs of the shop and as assigned by the supervisor which will change as required based on job duties demand.
