CNC Machine Operator

Description: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machine Operator to join our team. The primary responsibilities of this role include changing raw stock and finished plates on our 4-axis CNC machine, performing routine maintenance, conducting quality checks on finished parts, and ensuring efficient operation of the machines to meet production goals. This position requires technical expertise, precision, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Set up and operate CNC machines according to production specifications and instructions. • Change plates on CNC machines as required, ensuring proper alignment and secure fastening. • Monitor machine operations to ensure quality output and identify any malfunctions or irregularities. • Conduct routine machine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting key components per production specifications and instructions. • Replace worn tooling and fixturing per instructions. • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. • Perform measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to verify tolerances. • Report non-conformances and assist in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly. • Communicate operational issues, delays, and improvements to supervisors and team members. • Assist in maintaining an inventory of machine tools, spare parts, and consumables. This is skilled journeyman level machinist work of above average difficulty such as; evaluating, assessing, and reverse engineering a wide variety of pumps and mechanical equipment pertaining to sewer, wastewater treatment, stormwater, potable water treatment, and well field water pumping, collections & distribution systems. Repairing and manufacturing from scratch parts and components, shaft rebuilding and balancing, motor and shaft alignments, utilizing all manual machinery and equipment such as: milling machines, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, hydraulic and arbor presses, etc. This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Teamsters Local Union 769 and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769. Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Performs work on an IPad or desktop computer • Performs related work as required. • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency. • Must have at least three (3) years of Journeyman level experience as a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker. • Hydraulics, Pneumatics and plumbing experience is preferred. Accurately completes setup verification check sheets, output and other documentation as required by management.
