Renewable Project Engineer

SUMMARY The Renewable Project Engineer I provides technical engineering support to the renewable energy team, working under the guidance of a Project Manager. This entry-level role assists in the design, development, and implementation of renewable energy and solar projects, with responsibilities ranging from drafting and calculations to permitting research and coordination. This role requires a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and interest in clean energy design and delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES Technical + Project Support Develop AutoCAD Civil 3D plans for renewable energy sites (grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater). Support solar PV and renewable project layouts, site optimization, and entitlement processes. Assist with engineering reports, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), and technical documentation. Research codes, permit requirements, and agency submittals. Coordinate with clients, consultants, and public agencies under direction of the Project Manager. Support cost estimating and material takeoffs. Conduct quality checks and flag design discrepancies for review. Attend site visits and perform basic surveying or data collection as needed. Workflow + Communication Track personal time and project hours in support of budget and deadlines. Communicate clearly with the team, raising questions or concerns as they arise. Collaborate cross-functionally to meet deliverables and ensure design accuracy. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred. 0–3 years of engineering experience, preferably in civil or renewable sectors. Engineering-in-Training (EIT) preferred or in progress. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Required: AutoCAD Civil 3D; Bluebeam experience a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS Prolonged periods of sitting (up to 8 hours a day for office staff) Interacting with technology (computer, cellphone, etc.) Ability to lift and/or carry items ( up to 20 lbs.) EEO Project Manager The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating solar and land development projects from concept to completion. This role requires technical expertise, project management skills, and effective collaboration with stakeholders, consultants, and agencies. The Project Manager will also mentor and guide project engineering staff as needed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent level of experience, preferred 5+ years of experience in land development and/or renewable energies. 5+ years' experience as a project manager or assistant project manager Professional Engineering License, CA preferred. General knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, Adobe, Internet, etc. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam, required. Senior Renewable Energy Consultant

About the position AECOM is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Consultant to lead projects for utility clients, focusing on the management and execution of renewable energy projects. This role is pivotal in contributing to the decarbonization of California's energy mix by addressing the challenges associated with developing, permitting, contracting, constructing, and operating renewable generation and storage projects.
