Wind Field Service Technician

Responsibilities & Expectations: We are seeking Wind Field Service Technicians to perform wind turbine and factory generator and motor repair and testing, including bearing replacement, grease application, slip ring and grounding ring maintenance, up-tower winding repair, machining, and electrical lead cable replacements. While training is available, a mechanical background (e.g., auto, diesel, industrial, aviation, welding, electrical, electromechanical, machining) is highly preferred and can lead to advancement opportunities. The skills Wind Field Service Technician we are looking for will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing generators and generator components up tower. Our ideal candidate is highly skilled in repairs and dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Perform maintenance tasks on wind generators, such as bearing replacements, and addressing slip ring and grounding ring issues • Conduct up tower winding repairs, measurements of critical dimensions, and up tower machining • Demonstrate integrity, initiative, and unwavering commitment to safety and quality • Assist in the disassembly and installation of electric motors and generators on-site • Safely lift, tighten, adjust, and secure heavy objects to facilitate work duties • Execute intermediate-level maintenance and troubleshooting tasks for wind turbines • Collect and accurately document information on turbine performance and issues • Diagnose routine problems, provide recommendations, and implement solutions • Follow structured troubleshooting processes and effectively use diagnostic tools • Proficiently utilize specialized tools and equipment, accurately documenting tasks, and data • Seek assistance for complex issues beyond personal expertise • Work independently with limited supervision, following instructions and maintenance schedules • Adhere to safety standards, identify potential gaps and risks, and implement effective mitigation measures • Excel in a fast-paced environment, adhering to standardized work procedures and applying strong analytical problem-solving skills within a continuous improvement framework • Assist in on-site inspections, testing, and reconditioning of electric motors and generators as directed by the Lead Technician Qualifications and Competencies: • Must have at least 3 years of driving experience, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain a driving record that meets IPS company standards. Willingness to travel extensively including weekends, as well as work overtime to meet business objectives • Ability to adhere to a work and travel schedule of 3 weeks on and 1 week off, based on business requirements • Proficiency in mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages • Ability work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, while following written and verbal instructions • Excellent attention to detail and a strong ability to meticulously follow instructions • Strong customer orientation and professional communication skills • Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively and independently, fostering a team-oriented approach • Displays meticulousness in preparing service reports, work order documents, and maintaining accurate records • Familiarity with a range of hand and power tools • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, even in challenging weather conditions involving extreme heat and cold, pollen and dust • Preferred experience in PdMA testing, although not mandatory • Preferred skills in Level 1 Vibration Analysis, although not mandatory Physical Requirements: • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for extended periods • Willingness to engage in manual labor for 12 or more hours per day • Sharp hearing and excellent field of vision • Adaptability to work in physically demanding conditions and adverse weather situations You’ll thrive at IPS if you… • Lead with integrity and prioritize safety. UT Level II Composite Wind NDT Technician

Sign on bonus for the following Level Technicians - Valid from October 2024 - October 2025 • Level 2 and Level 3 Rope Access Technicians or Composite Repair Technicians (less than 3-years field experience) $2,250 • Wind Turbine Composite Repair Technicians (3-years field experience) with or the ability to obtain valid rope access certification $5,500 • Employee must remain employed and in good standing with Mistras for a minimum period of 4 months and have worked at least two full 28-day rotations • Paid in full after 4 months of employment and two full 28-day rotations have been completed Pay range: Entry Level: $25-30/hour Level 2: $28-34/hour Level 3: $40-$50/hour POSITION SUMMARY: The UT Level II Composite Wind NDT Technician will perform UT inspections on various materials as required per job scope. This position requires significant travel. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES: • Set up and calibrate equipment. • Conduct tests with appropriate NDT technique(s). • Interpret, evaluate and document results. • Must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified and capable of directing the work of trainees and Level I personnel. • Must be familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employer. • Actively participate in training program and document OTJ hours. • Work with minimal supervision. • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. • Obtain and analyze information skillfully. • Edit and present numerical data effectively. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • High School graduate or equivalent required. • Training and coursework in specialized NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC1A for UT. • Prior certification as an NDE Level II with one (1) year experience OR prior certification as an NDE Level I technician with adequate field experience hours to certify to Level II per SNT-TC1A standards on UT. • Composite experience preferred, but not required. • Rope Access certification (any level, SPRAT/IRATA) preferred, but not required. Must be able to obtain upon hire. • Experience and comfort working at height. • Wind Energy experience preferred, but not required. • Ability to travel significantly. • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test as well as a background check. • To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position; • * Problem Solving ~ Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Field duties require outdoor work. • Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and clients. • Working outside in various weather conditions. • Ability to work in constricted space in close proximity with other technicians. • Must be physically fit and able to carry 50 lbs. frequently. • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection. • May be at more than one jobsite in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes. • Required to travel to customer locations to work for weeks at a time.
