Job Description You will serve as a skilled craftsman in the Department of the Navy, specializing in welding. This role involves working at various naval shipyards, including Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for identifying and associating metals, alloys, and filler metal by color code and standard markings. They will also produce welds to the acceptance standards of NDT, strength, tightness, or pressure tests. In addition, the successful candidate will use test methods for determining metals or alloys, inspect completed welding projects, and utilize various welding machines and welding processes to weld piping parts or structures.
