Electrical Engineer – Solar & Power Systems

Title: Electrical Engineer - Power/ Solar Systems Work Location: Birmingham, AL Pay Rate: $34 per hour on W2 Contract: 3-year Contract Hybrid role - 4 days Onsite and 1 day Remote Job Description: • Interconnection Studies • Electrical Engineer- Our company is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in the field of Renewables/Solar/Power Systems to design and develop renewable energy systems for our utility client. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and testing electrical components and systems that are optimized for renewable energy sources, specifically solar. (Within the Protection and Controls group) • Provide short-circuit analysis, breaker-duty study results, and protection requirements to interconnect a customer-owned facility to the company-owned transmission system • Create and update short-circuit model using customer-provided facility data using Siemens Gridscale X (formerly known as Computer-Aided Protection Engineering (CAPE)) and/or ASPEN software • Specify protection schemes and relays at company-owned facilities and the point of interconnection and review schemes based on transmission stability requirements • Effectively communicate study results and protection requirements to interconnection customers and internal partners • Actively engage in meetings with other organizations to provide technical expertise to customers and peer partners • Additional responsibilities may include Transmission System/Transformer modeling to support capital projects. Job Requirements • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. • Focus on studies-internships within power systems, power delivery, renewable energy, and/or solar interest • Previous Electrical Engineering experience preferred. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail • SQL and Visual Basic experience is a plus.
