Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator & Weld Setup Technician to join our fabrication team. This dual-role position is responsible for setting up and operating press brake equipment to form sheet metal components, as well as preparing and staging welding jobs to ensure efficient, high-quality production. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of fabrication processes, and a commitment to safety and quality. Key Responsibilities • Press Brake Operation • Set up and operate manual press brake machines with appropriate tooling and dies. • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and shop drawings to determine bend dimensions, tolerances, and forming requirements. • Perform quality checks using calipers, protractors, and other measuring devices to ensure parts meet specifications. • Troubleshoot press brake issues, make minor adjustments, and perform routine preventive maintenance. • Weld Setup • Review blueprints, weld symbols, and shop drawings to determine setup requirements. • Setup weld jobs for MIG and TIG welding as required. • Select, stage, and align fixtures, clamps, and materials for welding operations. • Assist welders with straightening pre- and post-weld • Verify material dimensions, fit-up, and alignment prior to welding. • Maintain welding fixtures, jigs, and setup tools to ensure readiness and accuracy. • General Duties • Comply with all safety requirements and support safe practices throughout the shop • Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and other team members to meet production goals. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment • Communicate with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals • Support continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, safety, and quality. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical training preferred. • 2+ years of experience in press brake operation and/or weld setup (both strongly preferred). • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols. • Knowledge of sheet metal materials, bending characteristics, and welding processes. • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. • Ability to lift and position materials up to 50 lbs. • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to quality standards.
