This position will work with customers using established protocol to create computer programs for the manufacturing of sheet metal prototypes and low volume production using SolidWorks. Shift 2:00pm to 10:00pm *shift differential $2.40 What you will do • Modify provided 3D models utilizing SolidWorks to create a 3D assembly overlay, forming prints, work order, and a sheet metal flat pattern that will be manufactured in house. • Creates Laser, Forming and Punch programs from customer supplied models. • Program simple brackets, flat parts, and parts with hardware utilizing SolidWorks; adjust tolerances as needed to have parts fit successfully together. • Work with production to review methods ensuring optimal sheet metal manufacturing processes are utilized. • Understands all material types, plating, powder coating, and welding; understands hardware types and compatible materials and assigns correct hardware. • Assist customers with design changes to improve design for production and review discrepancies between design and the manufacturing process. • Develop and maintain knowledge of organizational processes in order to convey benefits when responding to inquiries from customers within quotes. • Consults with approved outside vendors to ensure work can be performed within timelines and provide all necessary information to complete the job. • Proactively collaborate with internal resources and customers as necessary to answer questions they may have regarding our process, specific materials, or sheet metal fabrication. • Consistently evaluates for best practice and improvement opportunities for self, team, and company. • Comply with all company quality and safety standards. • Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures. • Perform additional tasks as assigned What it takes • Associates/Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or similar. • Experience with CAD/CAM software packages (Solidworks/Radan). • Experience with Sheet Metal operation equipment. • Experience with Lasers/Press Brakes/Hardware installation. • Ability to learn advanced proprietary graphical computer-aided analysis software. • Must be able to understand and interpret blueprints and drawings. • Familiar with dimensions, measuring techniques and gains and losses. • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; basic math skills. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Ability to multitask and prioritize own workload. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment. • Attention to detail and accuracy. Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Machining Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing technical drawings, determining material and labor costs, and preparing competitive quotes for machining projects. This role requires strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques to ensure accurate and profitable project bids as well as an outstanding customer service approach. Key Responsibilities: • Review engineering drawings and technical specifications to assess project requirements. • Estimate material, labor, tooling, and overhead costs for machining projects. • Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to develop accurate cost estimates. • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. • Source and evaluate materials, suppliers, and subcontractor pricing. • Prepare and submit detailed proposals and quotations to clients. • Analyze past projects to refine and improve cost estimation processes. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of machine technologies and industry trends. • Assist in project planning to ensure feasibility and profitability. • Communicate professionally with customers regarding project scope, pricing, and lead times. Qualifications & Skills: • Proven experience as a Machining Estimator; 5 or more years of prior machining experience • Detailed knowledge of 3 Axis and Lathe machining (programming, set-up, and cycle time estimating) • Interpreting technical drawings and GD&T. • A high school diploma or equivalent, and technical or vocational training. • Experience with cost estimation software. • Strong analytical and mathematical skills. • Excellent communication skills. • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
