Sheet Metal Fabricator

Summary: Responsible to create, install, repair and inspect surfaces for imperfections while painting, cutting, bending, or shaping both metal and non-metallic pieces. Needs to be able to run a waterjet machine, press brake and small single axis router. Primary Responsibilities: • Select gauges and types of sheet metal or non-metallic material, according to product specifications • Operate light metal working machines to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal according to specifications provided. • Use hand-tools, power tools, machines and equipment safely and effectively. • Read engineering drawings of work specifications to be performed and check dimensions and reference lines on materials using calipers, squares, and rulers. • Fasten seams and joints together with bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds in order to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items. • Trim, file, grind, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts, using hand tools and portable power tools. • Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy. • Inspect product quality to ensure conformance to specifications. • Notify supervisor of any shortage of materials or damaged equipment or tools. Additional Responsibilities: · Assist, as needed, in all areas of manufacturing as required by supervisor Knowledge & Skill Requirement: · Experienced in repair and painting of sheet metal products. · Experienced in running a waterjet machine, press brake, and small single axis router table. · Able to meet schedule deadlines. Working Conditions: Stand or walk for long periods of time during a regular work day. Use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects. Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds, carry tools and equipment. Work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling positions. Be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Much of the work day is spent standing, bending and lifting repetitively.
