Sheet Metal Mechanic

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for assembling, installing and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Job Responsibilities • Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. • Shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer. • Operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; • Inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. • Installing prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes. • Reading blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of duct systems. Requirements • A High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years as a sheet metal journeyman with experience in commercial service; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage). • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and standing for long periods of time. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move more than 50 pounds. Sheet Metal Foreman

Full job description Job Duties and Responsibilities: This individual is responsible for the planning, laying out, participating in, and supervising of ductwork/equipment installation on job sites. Individual must be able to measure up ductwork for equipment tie-ins and have the ability to read and interpret shop drawings, contract drawings, submittals and job specifications. Duties of Foreman • Must know the scope of work • Work Closely with Project Manager to help schedule and plan manpower • Coordination of work (i.e.: Job Schedule, Ordering Materials, Manage Tools and Directing Subs) • Quality control and safety(daily safety talks with employee) • Reports (Daily reports, JHA’s, time entries) • Material Take-Offs • Work with PM to know Equipment Ship Dates • Assist PM if necessary with Change Orders • Attend Jobsite Meetings with PM • Control Job Cost (Materials, rental equipment, man hours) • Payroll • Employee Termination • Mentor and train future field leaders • Control Manpower (Start Time and Leaving Time, Manage Productivity of Crew) • Layout work in front of your crew member(s) Requirements • A High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years experience in commercial sheet metal ductwork installation; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Frequent reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending • Ability to stand & walk, reach outward constantly, frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs; • Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem; • Demonstrated dependability and trustworthiness; • Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards; • Must be able to exercise fine motor control and possess excellent hand-eye coordination; • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly, including under stressful situations.
