Overview The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for conducting the installation of metal/board HVAC systems. Responsibilities • Assembles and installs metal duct and fiberglass board. • Blue print reading and understanding of sheet metal shop drawings. • All phases of duct installation (spiral, rectangular, double wall, welded). • Understanding of different connectors that are used. • Hanger layout as well as some field measuring. • Organizes work area and maintains all hand tools. • Lifts heavy materials at heights. Qualifications • Minimum of 6 months experience in any types of sheet metal and fiberglass, duct work installation on commercial/residential projects. • Must have own Sheet Metal hand tools, company supplies power tools. • Must be able and willing to follow job-site instructions. • Lift heavy materials and not be afraid of heights. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors. • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. • OSHA 10 or 30. • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles. • Climbing stairs. • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. • Operating machinery and/or power tools. • Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind. • Noisy environment. • Light to heavy work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects from 20-100 pounds. • 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location. Pay Range USD $19.18 - USD $25.64 /Hr. Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description Overview: Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, and furnace casings. Work may involve any of the following: setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer; or inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. Includes sheet metal duct installers who install prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes. High Level Job Functions: • Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, and required methods and materials, according to blueprints, drawings, and written or verbal instructions. • Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, such as roofing panels, according to drawings or templates, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers. • Maneuver completed units into position for installation and anchor the units. • Install assemblies, such as flashing, pipes, tubes, heating and air conditioning ducts, or furnace casings. • Select gauges or types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications. • Drill and punch holes in metal, for screws, bolts, and rivets. • Fasten seams or joints together with welds, bolts, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items. • Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites, using shears, hammers, punches, or drills. • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, or smooth surfaces, seams, or joints of assembled parts, using hand tools or portable power tools. Overview The Foreman is responsible for supervising and assisting the field and subcontractor workers with field installation activities in a specifically assigned area/portion of a project including quality control and safety. Responsibilities • Prepare the necessary tools and installation equipment in the work area prior to the arrival of workers. • Provide installation instructions to the workers via detailed verbal explanations and/or detailed sketches. • Ensure all materials are organized in the work area for ease of installation. • Expedites tools, equipment, and materials to ensure that the workers stay in the work area. • Inspect and test the installations. • Call for code enforcement inspections. • Mark-up as-built drawings daily. • Timekeeping. • Enforce safety policies and respond to incidents.
