Job Responsibilities • Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. • Shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer. • Operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; • Inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. • Installing prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes. • Reading blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of duct systems. Requirements • A High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years as a sheet metal journeyman with experience in commercial service; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage). • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and standing for long periods of time. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move more than 50 pounds.
