Job Title: Mig Welder Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt Reports to: Metal Fabrication Supervisor SUMMARY The Mig Welder is responsible for producing high-quality welds that meet customer specifications and blueprint requirements. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of our production process while contributing to a collaborative and positive team environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Functions • Interpret and work from blueprints, work orders, and weld symbols with accuracy. • Perform mig welding on a variety of sheet metals and components, ensuring weld quality meets company and customer standards. • Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment, selecting the proper settings for material and weld requirements. • Safely use measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, and measuring tapes) to verify dimensions and tolerances. • Inspect finished welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications. • Maintain acceptable productivity levels while meeting deadlines. • Follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail. • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment. • Promote teamwork, positive communication, and adherence to company values. QUALIFICATIONS • Ability to pass Sargent Metal mig weld test. • Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and safety standards. • Strong understanding of weld symbols and blueprint reading. • Ability to stand for 10–12 hours per day and lift up to 50 lbs. • Prior experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing a plus. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the installation of foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and sheet metal fabrication shop work.
