The Position We are seeking a licensed Journeyman Plumber to join our growing team. This full-time role requires a solid understanding of general plumbing and a passion for vintage plumbing service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly skilled, and enthusiastic about delivering top-notch care to our customers. Unlike many plumbing roles, this role is full-time with hours from 8:00-4:30 Monday through Friday. Kelly Plumbing is not an emergency-service plumbing company. Responsibilities • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in both commercial and residential properties. • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to assess, plan, and execute plumbing installations and layouts. • Inspect and test plumbing systems to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with building codes. • Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues, including responding promptly to emergencies. • Perform light construction tasks such as carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, electrical, and concrete work as needed. • Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other professionals to ensure successful project outcomes. • Manage inventory, order supplies, and research vendor services for customized system retrofits. • Maintain accurate records of work performed, time spent on jobs, and materials used. • Assign and track corrective and preventive maintenance tasks for team members as directed by management. • Communicate respectfully and effectively with customers, contractors, and homeowners. • Ensure company truck is clean and properly stocked with updated inventory. • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time. • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and a clean driving record. • Participate in training to enhance skills and professional growth. • Obtain and maintain required certifications (assistance available for obtaining certifications). • Adhere to company policies and maintain effective communication with scheduling and management. • Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Licensing and Certifications • Valid Minnesota State Journeyman Plumber License. • Minneapolis and St. Paul competency cards (or ability to obtain). • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Experience and Education • High school diploma or GED certificate. • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a journeyman plumber in residential plumbing. Technical Skills • Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in plumbing. • Possession of personal hand tools required for the job. • In-depth knowledge of plumbing/building codes, safety regulations, and best practices. • Familiarity with various piping materials, including ABS, PVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and perform accurate measurements and calculations. Problem-Solving and Interpersonal Skills • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills for customer service and teamwork. • Comfortable making ethical repair or replacement recommendations and presenting costs to customers.
