Journeyman Plumber

JOB SUMMARY: The Plumber/Pipe Fitter lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs and maintains piping and piping systems and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems in commercial, industrial, and residential building. Project Focus Areas include: Higher education, k-12, hospitals, hotels, government, other institutional campuses or facilities. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Reads studies and interprets job specifications, plans and blueprints to gain understanding of work to be done. • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials needed for each job. • Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and to make sure holes cut out for pipe will not cause structural weakness. • Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. • Cuts, grinds, threads and bends pipe according to job specifications. • Assembles and installs a variety of metal and non-metal pipe and fittings. • Joins pipe and secures to structure with clamps, brackets and hangers. • Tests piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges. IDEAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: • A High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 - 10 years as a pipe fitter with experience in commercial plumbing; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience. • Uses basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry to make calculations for work. • Ability to read and utilize Pipefitter s Blue Book. • This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage). • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move more than 50 pounds. Plumbing Foreman/Journeyman Plumber (Temporary)

IMC Construction Group is a leading mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractor recognized for delivering high-quality results on complex government projects. We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Foreman or dependable Journeyman Plumber for a 4-month assignment at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Panama City Beach, FL. This temporary position will focus on successfully closing out the remaining phases of the project. While the role is project-specific, there is potential for transition into full-time employment upon completion, leading future projects within our organization. Role Overview: The Plumbing Foreman/Journeyman is responsible for the installation and completion of plumbing systems on the project, ensuring all work meets project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: • Lead or support plumbing teams in accordance with project plans and specifications. • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to resolve field issues. • Ensure all installations comply with federal, state, and local codes, with particular attention to federal compliance standards. • Support project close-out activities, including inspections, testing, and punch-list completion. • Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety in alignment with company and federal guidelines. • Provide mentorship and guidance to on-site team members. Required Skills & Experience: • High school diploma or GED required. • 4+ years of plumbing experience on commercial projects. • Previous foreman or supervisory experience preferred. • Experience working on U.S. military or government construction projects strongly preferred. Capabilities: • In-depth knowledge of plumbing codes, safety procedures, and industry standards. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams. • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Working Conditions: • Work performed indoors and outdoors, often exposed to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, moisture, and wind. • Regularly required to stand, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods. • Must be able to lift and carry 50–100 pounds. Additional Information: • Competitive hourly wage based on skills and experience, plus per diem. • Overtime may be required based on project deadlines. • Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, pass a background check and drug screen, and be eligible for base access.
