We are hiring for licensed Plumbers to join our growing team. Plumbers are responsible for installing, repairing & maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The Plumber reads blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste & drainage systems. Plumbers work in cooperation with other laborers and trades to ensure that all specifications and policies are met, and to ensure the efficient completion of any project. What You’ll Do: • Review building plans & specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials. • Identify the required tools and special equipment. • Select the size and type of pipe required for the job. • Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures. • Assemble and install valves and fittings. • Install, repair, and maintain water treatment equipment, piping, and controls. • Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems. • Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim. • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks. While we share a passion for developing talent in the trades, candidates for this role must hold a current journeyman plumber’s license. Journeyman Plumber, UM Housing

UM Housing invites applications for a Journeyman Plumbers (Maintenance Plumber) to oversee the total maintenance of 770 residential apartments and 9 residence halls. • Perform day-to-day repairs and installations necessary from plumbing work orders for UM Housings residence halls and apartments. This includes researching, ordering, and installation of materials. • Provide good customer services skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. • Work with the other trades to complete work orders and assigned projects. • Maintain & replace plumbing fixtures and appliances i.e. Water heaters, circulation pumps, pump seals, sinks, faucets, shower valves, sump pumps, etc. • Maintain and operate steam heating systems within the residence halls. • Repair and replace drain lines, cast iron, PVC and DWV. • Repair and replace water supply lines, PEX, Copper, Galvanized and Poly. • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), completion of apprenticeship training in the plumbing trade, and five (5) years of experience as a journey-level maintenance service plumber, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Must have a valid State of Montana plumbing license or ability to obtain one upon hire. This license will be required by the first date of employment • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Montana driver’s license • Experience in the standard practices, methods, and processes in the use of materials, tools, and equipment of the trade. • Knowledge and ability to install, maintain and repair drain, waste and vent plumbing systems, water piping, plumbing fixtures, water-using appliances and equipment Physical Requirements (Qualified candidates must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform the primary functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.) • Lifting: Ground to 60 inches, up to 55 pounds. Ground to overhead, up to 50 pounds. • Carrying: Front carry up to 75 pounds for 10 feet or less. Front carry or 1 handed carry, up and down stairs, 40 pounds. • Pushing and pulling forces required (during the use of tools): 50 pounds sustained. • Use of hand truck to move hot water heaters and fixtures, on level surfaces, and up and down stairs, requiring lifting and pulling forces of 75 pounds (50 pounds sustained). • Squatting occasionally, and kneeling, crouching, squatting or sitting on the floor to work at low levels, for a prolonged period of time. • Static trunk forward bending and / or twisting occasionally, from a standing, crouching or kneeling position while using tools. • Reaching frequently with your arms in all directions. • Working overhead occasionally from various positions (standing, squatting, and kneeling). • Balancing when climbing and working on a ladder or scaffold. • Walking various distances throughout the day on even and uneven surfaces, distances up to 1000 feet. • Use of various grip circumferences (up to 5 ½ inches), and strengths (up to 65 pounds of grip force in both hands), as well as static grip positions, during the use of various tools, and while manipulating various work materials. • Use of foot controls and hand controls to drive and operate pickup truck. • Manual steadiness, dexterity, speed, and coordination: • Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp and manipulate objects. • Wrist-Finger Speed — The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Preferred Qualifications • Knowledge and ability to install, maintain and repair, pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers, water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools, underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems • Knowledge and ability to assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing and welding in all types of plumbing systems including Threaded, Victaulic, Brass, Copper, PEX, PVC, Cast iron, Stainless steel and Iron • Demonstrated leadership ability to direct skilled work teams engaged in project management, renovation, alteration, and operations of varying building/grounds structures and systems • Knowledge and ability to use plumbing and pipefitting hand and power tools (i.e., drills, saws, wrenches, grinders, threading machines, hoists, core drilling and sewer machines) • Knowledge and ability to measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines • Knowledge and experience of commercial plumbing and mechanical construction • Applicants must possess good computer skills with Microsoft Office products • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work from drawings, blueprints and sketches • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures related to the trade and ability to follow all OSHA safety regulations • Ability to build good working relationships with Vendors & Outside Contractors • Knowledge and experience preparing plumbing estimates Position Number: 103230 Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum Benefits Include: Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
