About the position The position of Plumber with License/Journeyman Plumber is aimed at individuals who possess or qualify for a MM98 license in the state of New Mexico and are willing to be the qualifying party for Deming Public Schools. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems under applicable permits. The job is structured for the 2025-2026 school year, with terms of employment set for 240 days. Responsibilities • Perform contractor-level plumbing in the installation, repairs and maintenance of a wide variety of plumbing fixtures and equipment. , • Install, repair and maintain sewer lines; dig down to the lines or opening, clean out and make necessary repairs. , • Conduct water sampling. , • Repair and maintain plumbing lines conducting chemical and human waste. , • Replace defective parts in plumbing fixtures and systems and repair existing systems. , • Rebuild and replace toilet valves, faucets and plumbing valves. , • Determine problems with water systems. , • Repair or replace drinking fountains or related parts. , • Repair back flow prevention devices. , • Install rough plumbing; set fixtures, move vents and rough plumbing and reinstall fixtures. , • Install, maintain and replace systems for lawn sprinklers. , • Troubleshoot, detect and repair gas leaks. , • Service, repair and maintain automatic chlorinator and water treatment system. , • Perform soldering to complete repairs and maintenance as required. , • Assist other trade personnel and perform minor carpentry, electrical repairs and other maintenance work as assigned. , • Estimate materials and labor needed. , • Maintain records related to work performed. , • Order plumbing supplies and materials according to established procedures. , • Communicate with administrators and other skilled maintenance personnel regarding plumbing issues. , • Dig ditches and trenches; cut holes in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. , • Operate a District vehicle to conduct work. , • Train and provide work direction to other maintenance personnel as required. , • Operate a variety of maintenance and plumbing tools and power equipment. Requirements • Completion of an apprenticeship or training program. , • Four years journey-level plumbing experience. , • Valid New Mexico driver's license and acceptable driving record. , • Possess or qualify to obtain a State of New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department MM 98 license.
