Stewart, GA location. Installs, maintains, inspects, tests, and repairs plumbing and piping systems including domestic hot and cold water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, medical gas and vacuum systems (if certified), specialized water systems (e.g., RO/DI), steam and condensate, and related equipment and fixtures throughout the healthcare campus. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with applicable state/local plumbing codes, NFPA 99, other relevant healthcare regulations, and facility standards to ensure patient and staff safety. Cuts, threads, solders, brazes, and welds various types of piping materials. Identifies and corrects plumbing deficiencies, leaks, or malfunctions. Reads and interprets blueprints and schematics. Responsibilities And Duties • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including potable water distribution, sanitary sewer systems, storm drainage, fixtures (sinks, toilets, showers, faucets), and related equipment (water heaters, pumps, ejectors). • Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair medical gas and vacuum piping systems, zone valves, alarms, and outlets/inlets in strict accordance with NFPA 99 and facility protocols. • Maintain and repair specialized piping systems such as purified water (RO/DI), acid waste, and compressed air. • Install, inspect, test, and repair backflow prevention assemblies. • Work with steam and condensate piping systems, including traps, valves, and related components used for heating, humidification, and sterilization equipment. • Cuts, threads, grooves, solders, brazes, and welds a variety of pipe materials such as copper, steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and various plastics. • Identify causes for domestic water, medical gas, sanitary/storm sewer, and steam system leaks or malfunctions; implements corrective actions. • Replace worn or inadequate pipes, valves, supports, fixtures, and traps. • Tests pipe systems for proper operation and compliance with pressure and flow requirements. • Plan or modify plumbing and piping systems to accommodate new construction or existing facility alterations, ensuring compliance with codes and infection control measures. • Estimate costs and materials required for repairs and minor projects. • Read and interpret blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams, isometric drawings, schematic diagrams, and sketches to perform installation, maintenance, and repairs. • Maintain accurate records of work performed (repairs, PMs, testing, material usage) in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and for regulatory compliance (e.g., backflow tests, medical gas system documentation). • May assist with water sampling and basic water quality tests as part of the facility’s water management program, under direction. • Maintain and repairs items such as valves, pumps, and other appurtenances related to piping systems. • Adhere strictly to hospital Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) protocols and safety procedures (LOTO, confined space, hot work permits) during all work.
