Job Description: Under general direction of a lead worker or supervision by departmental administrator, performs highly skilled plumbing repairs and installation of existing and/or new plumbing & maintains building facilities & equipment. Provides work direction, training & mentoring of lower level plumbers and/or other trades workers performing craft duties. • Adheres to all OSHA and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines; • Provides work direction, training and mentoring of lower level plumbers and/or trades workers performing craft duties; • Repairs existing plumbing and installs new plumbing (e.g., unclogs commodes, sinks and sewage lines; installs tubs, showers, water closets, laundry equipment, drinking fountains and kitchen, laundry, hospital and heating equipment; • Performs other miscellaneous duties (e.g., orders supplies, work scheduling, materials and equipment; prepares job estimates; maintains job records and completes necessary documentation; • Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); • Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: • Journey-level working knowledge of plumbing; • Knowledge of employee mentoring*, training* and development*; • Knowledge of inventory control*; • Ability to read & write common vocabulary in sentence structure; • Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals & percentages; • Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems; • Ability to carry out technical instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form; • Ability to work independently or with others; • Demonstrated willingness to work with diverse populations; • Demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand &/or power tools & equipment; • Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures; • Ability to work at heights; • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; • 48 months skilled experience in plumbing, or equivalent**; • Successful completion of a test may be required. • Valid drivers license • May be exposed to wet areas, dirt, grease, odors, sewage, cramped conditions, extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and electrical hazards; may be exposed to dangerous machinery; confined spaces • An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills. • *At the discretion of management, certain Plumber 2 positions may require a Backflow Prevention Certification to be maintained as a core, minimum job qualification.
