Gas Pipe Fitter

Cut pipe to specifications, using saws and pipe cutters. 2. Thread pipe using pipe threading machine. 3. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauges while looking for leaks 4. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. 5. Plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications. 6. Select pipe sizes, types and related materials such as supports and hangers. 7. Cut and bore holes in structures including; bulkheads, decks and walls prior to pipe installation. 8. Secure pipe to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers. 9. Work in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring "more than satisfied customers." Qualifications and Education Requirements: • High school or equivalent • HVAC Trade school certificate preferred, strong consideration given to graduates from the North Idaho College, Spokane Community College or Northwest HVAC/R programs. • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record. • Gas Mechanic License - experience in Gas pipe fitting Preferred Skills: • Effective customer service skills to communicate clearly, the ideas and explanations of problems, to customers and coworkers. • Demonstrate an ability to effectively and successfully compete projects in an orderly and efficient manner, with attention to detail. • Self-motivated to complete assigned tasks within time constraints. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. • Technical aptitude to perform maintenance, service, and troubleshoot equipment. • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all time. • Must work in a safe manner on a daily basis and ensure that all safety measures are taken at all times. - Have appropriate licenses. Job Summary This recruitment will close to further applications at midnight on 11/27/2025. Eastern Washington University is seeking a skilled Plumber/Pipefitter/Steamfitter for a 12‑month appointment based on your experience, education, and skills. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair water mains, storm sewers, septic tanks, sewage mains and laterals, valves, drains, basins, tubs, faucets, lavatories, sinks, gates, hydrants, water coolers, and dishwashers. Perform valve maintenance, cutting and threading pipe, and testing back‑flow assemblies. Maintain water mains, fixtures, sewer lines, valves, and septic tanks to determine maintenance, cleaning, and repair needs. Provide assistance to other shops, contractors and vendors as requested; generate material and equipment requests. Complete all shop and departmental paperwork including service order cards, time sheets, work orders, and incident reports. Benefits The salary range for this position is $71,148 – $82,476. Qualifications Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter, OR full journey status in a union, OR four (4) years applicable work experience. Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach supportive of diverse needs. Preferred Qualifications Water Distribution Manager Certificate of Competency and/or Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate of Competency issued by the Department of Health. Back‑flow assembly tester. Cross‑connection control specialist. Other Skills and Abilities Understanding of safe work practices including reporting mechanical and/or safety issues. Demonstrated attention to detail, professionalism, dependability and timeliness. Excellent customer service skills, professional and courteous demeanor. Work Schedule Regular Work Schedule: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday–Friday or 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday–Friday. Possible 4/10 schedule available depending on university needs.
